Apparently people like my mints....

Thank you SO much for the recipe, can't wait to try 'em! :thumbsup2

My DD's graduating class is having a Bake Sale in a couple of weeks, and I was thinking I might make some of these. Do you think that would be doable? Or should I just stick with the usual fudge and Rice Krispy Treats? (tho my PB fudge is the best EVAH, lol)

I sold them at our schools fundraising bake sale and put my name on the bag...as in "if you'd like to order...call...." and got a bunch of calls for orders after that! I donated 4 bags...they all went quickly!

WOW! I'm ready to do a crazy dance! I got a call from one of the people representing a person who was just re-elected for city council. She's a wonderful person who I voted for. Her re-elect dinner is this coming weekend and they want 8 bags of mints. They want stars. There will be lots of 'high rollers' there. All the city council people, mayors office and a bunch of others.

I couldn't believe it !!!! 8 BAGS???? WOW, how many people do they plan to have. I told them 1 bag is good for about 40-50 people. hmmmmm. Maybe they have more than one party? They told me she's addicted to my mints. GOOD!

ALSO, the contract was written up for me and meals in minutes. I was planning to spend 4 hours there today and 3 there Tues. and Wed. I'm doing the stars there and making up a few more bags for meals in minutes. I'm using her kitchen for free, because most of the product I make there is sold there AND I don't take up much electicity to do so, because I don't need any ovens, microwaves, blenders or anything like that!

WOW!! CONGRATULATIONS :cool1: :woohoo: :dance3:

HELP!!

I went to try to find the Mint Flavoring, and all I'm finding is extract! Can you tell me where you find it? I've been looking among the spices, and I also checked in the candy/cake section of AC Moore, with no luck... :guilty:

This is what I buy. You do not need to purchase it online- that's just the only place I found where you can enter your zip and find where it is for you locally. I have found it in Walmart, in the wedding/candy/baby shower area.
I have also found it at a local 'party store' of mine, and Through them, I order the larger amounts of ONE single flavor. Not the same brand, but tastes and works just as well.

If you can find a good chocolate mint flavor (I've also seen them on amazon), that is the BEST flavor in my opinion...second right after the mint/peppermint flavoring.

I've tried to mix two different flavors- right now I'm attempting chocolate covered cherry...I'll let you know if that works!

So, I attempted this and they are a colossal failure :lmao:. They are too soft to form so we put them in the freezer for a bit to harden, they will form but then they just soften up too much after that to hold a good shape. So, can you ship some of yours to Minnesota???

Yeah, it depends on the weather. If it's raining, humid or too hot- you're kind of out of luck. Sorry they didn't work for you. Sometimes it takes a batch or two to get it right. My mom has the same problem. She's actually stopped making them and just gets hers from me...:)

I use my hands to mix them (in gloves of course) and if my hands are too warm, or if the bowl is too warm then it won't mix right.

I've shipped them to about 8 different people in Minnesota. Mostly family and friends though, because I don't know what Minnesota laws are when it comes to selling foods- It just takes dry ice and a higher shipping rate to get it there quicker.

I'm actually not making any right now, because it's been too damp. I don't have any orders to fill until the end of June for a wedding...all the others have already been made and put in the freezer or already been picked up.

Maybe that is what we did wrong, we used a hand mixer. I guess I will just have to skip them for the party next week.

OMG I made these today, they are WONDERFUL, my kids LOVE them!!!!
Thank you Thank you Thank you

Just popping in to say good for you! I love cream cheese mints. I have been tempted to make them a few times and then back out.

There mints are a tradition in my family for all weddings and showers - they are so good! My sister talked about making them as a sideline business at one time. She loves making them and considers it her stress relief. She never did do anything about it though. Maybe I should email her this thread to see what she's missing!

Thanks for posting the recipe. I'll have to try them. I can see where heat & humidity would affect them. Humidity is really bad with chocolate.

I have people who love my chocolate candies. Especially my chocolate covered pretzels, caramels and turtles. I've also made chocolate mints in the past. In fact, I made them for one of my bff's baby showers.

My bff has told me in the past to sell them, but I don't don't want to break any food laws here and don't want to know about the nightmare it can be.

Good luck in your small business venture. :goodvibes
