I checked APH rates for both august and November and found the AAA rate to be much less. If this is a new trend I will stay at WDW and just go to universal for the day . Barb

do you mind sharring what rates showed up for you?

i just booked 2 ressies for oct. 19 - nov 2 and both the APH and the AAA rates for the club level came out to 314. this was for the HRH. i looked and noticed that both of the other hotels came out with a better price using AAA.

November 18-20 PBH 256 APH,227.20 AAA,,RPH APH 202, AAA-179.20. It seems that the APH is really being shafted .I would think AAA would have many more members than APH so they would actually be giving more people a discount . These rates are much higher than the same period last year. Barb

You should see it for July! $234 for APH and NONE for AAA @ RPR. What's going on? I purposedly bought the AP last year (since it was for 2 years at the price of 1) so I could have the AP and the rate discount and now NOTHING! I've always split my stay b/w WDW and USO since I got very good discounts with ENT, but they also said they didn't have ANY ENT rate, that they hadn't negotiated it yet. :charac2: If this is what they are offering I'll just stay at POP and save me $$. I'll just visit for a day or 2 and forego the FOTL (which I HATE doing)! (Sigh!) :scared:

I have been complaining for months about the AP Rates for 2005, I have even given Universal a call and was promised that someone would return my call and still nothing. I bought the 2 for 1 last year, thinking since i lived in Atlanta I would be going more often since they offered up to 30% off room rates, but i have been quoted as high as $354 a night for standard to queen rooms at rpr. Now don't get me wrong i love RPR , but unless i'm getting a Hospitality suite i can't justify paying that much for the rooms there. I ususally pay that for a Suite at the Ritz or Hilton. So i think we will be checking out the new Ritz they have built.

I'm sad to see the resort rates are so high. We often like to split our longer stays to include US/IOA. Since I'm married to a Disney CM, we can get more for our money on Disney property. However, with the Ap or Ent discounts available we sometimes like to stay at US for a night or 2 before moving "home". I can't believe the lack of competition on US/IOA's side. With Disney now offering such a good price for the longer stays on property, picking up at the airport for FREE, and lots of new attractions for the spring, not to mention the new evening resort guest hours only, why is US/IOA not trying to compete with Disney and make it attractive to stay at their hotels and visit their parks?? A little baffling to me. Needless to say, what US/IOA are charging for a room per night, will cover almost a week stay at the value resort for us. We stayed at HRH last spring for $139 a night and stayed at PBR for $159 a night the summer before that. We didn't renew our US/IOA APs and had planned to buy new ones--guess what, won't be doing that. I guess Disney will get all of our money this spring for our 16 day stay! I guess that is what US/IOA wants to hear?? somehow I wouldn't think so. Too bad, we liked the change visiting the US/IOA parks and like eating in City Walk.

Loews owns the hotels, not USF/IOA. They control the prices. If the hotels can be filled with conventioners (like they seem to be doing), Loews doesn't need to worry about lowering their prices for vacationers.

Anyone got any ideas how to get our point across to Loews?

I can't imagine Loews is going to be able to sustain the occupancy rate they want through the summer without more discounts. Probably not as low as the discounts seen in the past 3 years ( the travel industry is beginning to recover ), but better than are being seen right now. They are obviously trying to book as many rooms as possible at the higher rates, but that strategy could backfire on them. Many people plan Orlando vacations months in advance, and will already have commitments via tickets, etc. when more discounts come out. Convention business isn't as strong in the summer, so they are going to have to lure vacationers to achieve occupany numbers. Consider other factors such as Disney ticket pricing structure, offsite hotel promotions, the increase in prepaid travel bookings through sites such as travelocity, expedia, etc. and you can see that the hotels are going to have to be very careful with their rates and the timing of those rates.
