APH - is it worth it?

I had previously booked 4 nights at RPR at the APH rate, but I just changed that to the FL/GA rate, which was the same rate. I have not purchased the AP yet, and now I am thinking that I do not need to do so. Previosuly I would have needed to purchase the AP for the RPH rate, but not now. I am wondering if people think that it would be worth it for me still to buy the AP for food/merchandise discounts.

I can get 4 three month tickets from Costco for $89. So considering I was planning to get one AP (for the room rate), I will save $90 (or $85 if bought thru AAA) by not buying the AP. We do not plan to be back in Orlando within one-two years, so the AP won't help with return visits. The only question will be for discounts during the stay. Assuming that we would get a 15% discount for a number of things that we would use it on, that would mean that we would have to spend $600 to save $90. While we will be eating a number of meals (probably not all) at the parks and at Citywalk, I do not anticpate spending that much.

I have the AAA card and someone on her previously indicated that you can get food discounts with that card. Is that true, and if so, where can you get the AAA discounts?

Am I missing something as to why I should get an APH?

I am doing the exact same thing you are. Got the GA rate last night, so I scrapped the AP idea. I really think that unless you plan to have a sit down 3 course meal everytime you eat and buy your child everything their heart desires, you won't save the extra money the AP will cost you. I know we don't plan to.

We are going September 17-23. How about you?

In your case, maybe not. Using an AP you can save between 10 and 15% off at meals. 20% savings at merchandise stores. 10% - 20% off at CityWalk food. If you have a AAA you could use that instead. Since you mentioned you wont be returning within the year it may not benefit you.

I believe the AAA discount is 10% off food and merchandise, excluding food carts, sundries, and candy.
