We are staying at Cabana bay...two adults and two teens. The teens have 2 day PTP tix with 3rd day free from UT. Adults have 1 day PTP tix. I plan to upgrade 1 of the tickets to a Power Pass for the aph discount on our room. Can I upgrade one of the teen's tickets and use it for the discount or must it be my ticket because the room is reserved in my name?

the room has to be in the name of an adult.
21 is the minimum age that can book the room.

you say the girls are teens so they would not be eligible to be the one that holds the registration for the room.

apply your park ticket towards the power pass would be the easiest way.

I always thought that as long as someone registered in the room had an AP, you were eligible for the rate.

Hmmm...Damo, I hope you are right as it would be much cheaper that way. I guess I will have to call Cabana Bay directly.

well, call them and find out.
policies change so much over the years.
i only posted what i have experienced in the past.

if it has changed, then that is your best way to handle it.

good luck!

How do the front desk staff typically handle the "I'm going to upgrade my ticket later today" situation? Is it something consistent like "come back and show us the pass within 24 hours", or up to the TM? (At the Disney resorts, I rarely even have to show the pass, even if I haven't booked the room via the passholder site on MyDEx. I suspect Loews is probably a bit stricter.)

you can check into the hotel and tell the TM you will return during your stay to show you have the AP.
as long as you do that before check out day, you will be fine.

you must have been lucky at the motherland resorts.
when i booked with the AP rate, i had to show it at check in or pay rack rate.
never caught a break at those resorts.

if you registered your WDW AP to MDE you are in the system as to AP discounts for rooms

even before the MDE switch, I had to provide my WDW AP # in order to even be told what the room discounts were.

Only way i can check online for the WDW AP rates is thru MDE or the passholder section.

I'd say it's more unusual than not to skip showing an AP at checking at Loews, sure wouldn't chance it without being prepared to produce one & risk being charged rack rate.

I never had to deal with that situation, which is good since I most often booked the rate before I actually got the pass.

Definitely plan to get the pass, but I also almost definitely won't yet have it at check-in. Just want to understand what the process will be. Sounds like I have some time to bring it to the desk.

I've never been asked at Universal to show my AP. I've been asked at Disneyland but not been asked at WDW.

i must be the lucky one.

each and every stay they ask to see my AP.....
sometimes it is the same TM at rpr that checks me in and still asks for proof....

I've never been asked either. Luck of the draw I guess! Kinda like never getting pin codes:(

That's the same kind of luck I have! At RPR I've never been asked to show my AP and I never get pin codes for any of the US/IOA resorts. :confused3

pre HP & influx of more guests into the parks, I was always able to book APH rates at least a few months out.

i've priced out several dates the last two years wherein the APH was 'gone' for a day or two out of a visit. Not an instance of a blackout btw, fully booked at the rate. frustrating to hear and I'm told loews doesn't mix and match rates in one booking.

jmho but They've either cut the number of rooms available for APH rates, more people have purchased APHs and are visiting during 'my' dates ;) or people book rates for which they don't qualify. naturally, not saying any one here isn't playing above board, yet I imagine one could be tempted to try.:confused3

perhaps if they would tweak the system & ask to see proof of every one's APH upon checkin, highly publicizing it on the website and when making a reservation by phone & reiterating it on the email confirmation, it might free up some dates. :scratchin

I also have been to the hotels twice last year once this year and have never been asked to show my AP.
