Hi DissPhotographers! :goodvibes

I know that to get the foreground object is in sharp focus and the background blurry you should set a low f/c value on my Canon but how do you do the opposite? How do you get the background in sharp focus and the foreground object blurry? Do i set a high f/c value?

Many Thanks! :goodvibes

No, you still want to keep the aperture open, but you want to set your focal point further back. Depending on your camera, this may require setting focus manually or manually setting your focal point (rather than letting the camera choose).

A closed aperture (high f-stop number) will make *everything* more focused.

Hi:
I focus on the closest object/person I want in focus and everything in front of it is blurry that's with my aperature at f2.8.

1) adjust which focal point your camera is using so it locks focus on something in the background. If you are using a wider aperture, the foreground should be blurry.

2) focus on the background with your center focal point selected, push down half way to lock focus, then shift the camera to recompose the shot. Finish pushing the button to take the shot.
