I see most things are included in the apartment - dishes, pots and pans, etc. Are vacuums also provided or will we need to bring our own?

Just trying to think - and prepare - ahead of time for things I will need. ;)

Thank you!

Michelle

From what I've read/heard, there's a vacuum up at the front desk of each complex, and we leave our ID with them to check it out, and then we have to quickly use it and return it. I think I might just get one of the cheap $30-40 vacuums from Walmart or Target and bring it with me.

Yep, there is a vacuum at the front desk that you can check out but the apartments do not each have one. I honestly think it might be worth it to buy a cheap one to keep. Especially around inspection times, it can be hard to check out.

I never had trouble checking out a vacuum, even around inspection time. I think one time I had to wait like twenty minutes maybe... they call you as soon as one comes back. However, the real hassle is having to lug that thing all the way back to your apt and then back up to the front. And they take your ID for the entire time that you have it.

A small cheap one from Wal Mart may have been a nice thing to have, but I never did in my 3 CPs and our floor was never that bad, and I'm somewhat of a neat nick. I had one roommate who would literally just sweep the floor with the broom. And somehow she actually made it work! She said it was a Hawaiian thing (she was from Hawaii).

Anyway, just my 2 cents. :)

Thank you for the responses! I will just plan on getting one of my own. I will put it to use once I get back home, anyway. ;)

Thanks, again! :flower3:

You might want to bring some of your own pots and pans and dishes as well, just because if I remember from my last program, they provide them, but they are not in abundance, and it can be frustrating especially if you like to cook alot and use alot of pans/dishes (like me :) )

How many sets of cups, plates, and bowls were at your apartment? I'm kind of inclined to bring a set of my own stuff, just because in the apartment tour videos I see, it looks like there's hardly any dishes or silverware!

There is "supposed" to be enough place settings for each person in the apartment, however the place setting tend to walk when people leave. We found that we didn't have enough and were doing dishes so much(like a ridiculous amount of times) so we just bought more. At some of the CP events you get cups, and the japan pavilion at EPCOT has great dishes..... As far as vaccine go, buy one. The ones we borrowed stunk, but that was a few years ago, so hopefully they've upgraded.

Thank you for the heads up about the dishes/pots and pans. I will wait until i arrive to see what I need. I don't like to cook a whole lot. When I do, I try to use as few pots and pans as possible. ;) However, I am planning to bring my Crock Pot. Hoping that that will cut some time from needing to cook on long days.
