AP7 Rate????

Does anyone recall when the AP4 rates came out last summer.

When I first decided to go this September I picked back through posts all the way to last year to see when they came out. I am sure it was mid July but don't remember the exact date. The 11th keeps coming to mind for some reason.

I did a search and the AP4 rates were announced by a disboard member last July 11th (good memory bechy! :thumbsup2 ) Not sure if thats actually the day they came out or if thats just the first day someone found them, but it must have been very close to that! Hopefully it will be a similar date this year!!

So how does an AP holder find out about these rates. Last year, I didn't find out until everything was almost all gone.

Will I gt an e-mail, or do I need to go the DL AP site, and it will show up there?

^^^ You'll need to watch the board and the DL website (AP Section). In the past they didn't require a first night's deposit and people would make multiple ressies gobbling up available nights (guilty as charged but only once). It should be different next time the AP special is advertised.

same thing happened to me!!!

Went to the DL AP site today, and nothing there yet.:sad2:

I check it probably 3-4 times a day. Last year the availability calander didn't show any AP6 rooms available but I booked anyway (2 dates) at the regular AP discount and kept checking back. By checking the availability calendar frequently I was able to get the AP6 discount for both rooms, standard view, and literally just days before we left view rooms became available so we upgraded. Same worked last fall. Went from PPH standard to DCA view, then concierge city view, and finally concierge DCA view - all the changes/upgrades occurred within a 48 hour period.
Guess I have too much time on my hands :rolleyes1

So you were able to book your room at the standard 10% rate, then change it over to the good AP rate?

Has anyone called DL lately or chatted with anyone who knows when they are coming??? I am hoping they come out in the next few days as the rates really affect our vacation.

TIA :)

Yes, but it took several attempts and the room had to be available - they only offer so many rooms at the good AP rates.

So, in theory, booking the room at the 10% off rate actually decreases your chance of getting the really good (AP7?)rate since they only offer the rate if a certain percentage of rooms are not reserved.

At least this is what I was thinking and why I have not yet reserved a room for November. :rolleyes1

Last year was very stressful and had to call every day in order to get all 7 nights at the AP4 rate. :headache: Since they charge you the first night this year, I am hoping this year will be easier to book.

I just called and was told that it would def. be August at the earliest(This is what the CM said). She said she saw nothing in the computer and said she wasnt even sure if they would be offering them this fall, as it is dependant on availability :(

I wouldn't stress about it. In the past, I had difficulties getting a room in the summer calling two months in advance. This year is totally different, they have rooms available at all three hotels for my trip next week. I can't imagine the hotels filling up in the fall or winter at standard rack rates.

I don't think the CMs you reach when calling to make a reservation know when they will be released so don't worry :goodvibes . And they wouldn't show up in her computer yet anyway, as they have not come out/

I think disney is going to have to offer some discount for the AP holders. especially with the economy - they need to draw people in..... so AP7 I am sure is coming soon!

Thanks for the reassurances guys. I am checking the AP website every day (sometimes a couple times) and will be sure to post if I hear anything.

:)

Yes I really think that if there were ever going to be AP rates this will be the time. Fall is slower anyway and then you have the economy. I keep reading that hotels everywhere are struggling.

My trip is in Sept and I feel like I'm playing chicken. I don't want to book yet at all unless/until there is an AP rate but my dates are rapidly approaching. I figure the more open the hotels are for Sept the more likely the rates will come out. I'm sure they'd MUCH rather us book at the standard 10% discount instead!

I booked the hojo just in case for our october trip..... if the ap7 opens up I am there.. If not I have a back up!

I am trying to decide whether or not we should get APs and one of the considerations will be how much we can save on lodging - can someone explain what these different levels (AP4, AP6, AP7, etc.) mean?
Thanks!

im now at hojos with good rate and have decied wont try ap rate now but hay if something happened where we can do dec trip and ap rate out then we might try that. if not hojos will be perfect

ap7 would be the next rate to come out ap4 was last year they change each time. but if you cant get ap rate there try desert inn or hojos. (i was gona be at desert inn but hojos worked out so im now happy.)
