Ok I am new to Universal. Since HP is coming we are planning a trip for early May. I need your help with regards to which AP would be the most cost effective. I am getting one so that we can get the Hotel discount, figure the line benefit will really help with the new attraction.

I was thinking the Power Pack, Fla Res. Is there a AAA discount as well for this one. I saw it for $114 with the Coke IPC.

Thanks!

I would get at least one Preferred AP so you won't have to pay for parking in the garage on return trips and you would get the park discounts on merchandise and food. There are no blackout dates for the Preferred. Since you live in FL, you should definately have something that takes care of the $14.00/day parking fee.

You would not be able to take an additional discount...the $114 is about as cheap as you can get.

Just an FYI -- the AP with the Coke UPC discount is activated on the date of purchase, not the date of first use. I almost got one for my SIL until I saw that.

Another FYI,at Publix they are still selling the power pass for $114+tax that don't activate till used.

Thanks everyone. On the free parking benefit with the preferred. Does that include the resorts as well?

No...you still have to pay at the resorts. Remember...Universal does not own those hotels and can not really extend their benefits to include the hotels.

I've actually considered leaving my car with valet the next time I'm there. I realize that may sound cheap (wife has a premier AP, so it's free), but that $15 or $20/day at the resort adds up. I suppose one could also park in the garage and leave it.

Perhaps we could find a volunteer willing to be a test case. I'm betting it would be towed away if it was left in the garage/valet overnight.

You'd win that bet! No overnight parking is allowed.

A quick Q about the Publix Power Pass -- if have my SIL purchase it now, will it be good in August, 2011? We all have APs but my son will need one in 2011 because he'll be 3 then. TIA for any info.

I was fairly sure I saw overnight rates for the valet when we were there in November.

One could always use the excuse that they had to get a cab to avoid a DUI. I would think that, given the popularity of CityWalk, they have people leaving their vehicles there out of necessity from time to time.

Thanks Metro, I saw that info on the website about the Power Passes, but I was just wondering if the Power Passes at Publix had different wording on them re: expiration date and FL residency because we bought our Power Passes several years ago before the FL resident requirement and have continued to renew them. My son doesn't have a Power Pass yet because he's not 3.

Thanks Metro. That clears up that pass. Think we are better off with the preferred. By the way lived in Metro West years ago.
