AP Worth It?

I've never been to WDW before & I am confused about the AP. How many times do I have to go to make it worth while? And is it based on a calendar year? Or are they based on the date I purchase them. I will be going for 7 park days in December. Thanks in advance to all those that know.

One thing I have to say about the AP is that you will be very tempted to go back for a second trip *lol* ... so in that sense, you may end up spending more money

OK. Someone please double check my math. If I plan on purchasing a 7 day UPH for my December stay and then plan on going for a weekend trip next summer (tagging on to DH's business trip), then I could break even. I calculate that if I get the PAP, then I would break even at 9.28 days. Am I getting this right?
