AP what if question

We've been AP holders for years, but never had this situation come up & are getting different answers from CRO. Anyone have a take on this:

We are planning a trip for May 16-24 staying at ASMu with the AP rate. Our AP will expire on May 21 and we weren't planning to renew after that as we are planning to visit other places this year and won't be going to Disney for awhile. We won't need to visit the Disney parks after the 21st, as we are planning to do some other things in the area so not renewing won't mess up this trip. The problem is: Is the AP rate still good if your AP expires midway the trip and you don't renew?

One CM at CRO said that all you had to have was a pass that was active at the time of check in and your rate was good for the length of stay, regardless of the expiration date. She checked with her supervisor prior to telling me this and said it was correct. I called again just to make sure that I would get the same story twice and another CM said that the pass had to be good for the length of the trip in order to receive the rate for all days. Days not covered by the pass would be charged at rack rate. I asked how they would know whether or not we had renewed. Would I have to go back down to check in to re-show the pass? He didn't know, but got a supervisor. A supervisor said that a note would be made on my ressie that I had an AP rate with an expiring pass. If I didn't come back down and re-show a renewed valid pass on the 21st, then at the time the final bill was calculated, I would be charged rack rate for those days that weren't covered by my pass. This all sounds a little nutty to me. I've never been in this situation before and don't know who to believe. I really don't want to renew this year, so if I have to to get the rate, I may just chuck the whole thing. This was just to be a "last blast" on the pass anyway. We've already gotten our money out of it. And no, we can't change dates because these are the only days that DH and I could both carve out of our work schedules. Anyone help?

What you got quoted was the company handbook line of "the pass had to be good for the length of the trip in order to receive the rate for all days".

In reality what you'll get is the strong probability (90% or better) that no one will even ask to see your AP. And of those remaining 10%, probably 5% will show it without the CM even looking at the dates.

IMHO, I would not be worrying about it if I were in your shoes. You're staying at ASMu. Even if they raised your last 3 nights to rack rate it might be an extra $100 total. And if they do tell you that you have to bring a renewed AP back on the 21st and you don't wish to renew, simply check out then and head down to US192 where you can walk in off the street and get decent rooms for $50/night.

I'm with Golden Oldie on this one.

We have always used an AP to get good rates at WDW and stayed onsite many times. We have never been asked for an AP at checkin even though we use AP rates all the time.

I'm pretty sure that the rate for the first night of your trip will be the same throughout your trip as long as it is one continuing reservation. If your AP is active when you check-in to the resort you will be fine.

I have been asked for an AP, but they did not spend a lot of time reviewing the thing so I would not worry about it expiring during your stay.

I have to agree with GoldenOldie also. I have taken advantage of AP rates many, many times and have NEVER been asked to show my actual pass.

Don't sweat it.
