I thought I saw a thread a while ago on how to decide on a 10 day non-expiring vs. a PAP?

We are now visiting for a day in October (maybe 2) around a DCL cruise, for a long weekend around MLK weekend, and maybe a week or some days around spring break.

we are trying to decide and now I can't find the thread!

Any help is appreciated!!

I believe I asked this question a couple months ago when I was decided on the AP or Non-Expiry option.

Using the DVC discount ($100) for the AP (not the premium one), I figured you'd need to visit the parks 9 times in a year to see any value (at that point the AP would have costed you $41.18 per day and the 10-day non expiry would have cost you $42.10)

If you add in the DDE card and make good use of it, we like to eat out on vacation, you still need to make 7-8 park visits (35-40 per day depending on how much you save on DDE). This was based on 2 people.

Trip-wise we were in a similar situation, with a long weekend columbus day weekend 2008, and then about a week in august 2009. However, we ultimately decided that at most we'd visit the parks 8 times and mostly likely less than that (we plan on a more relaxing trip with a day or two at universal in august.)

Hope this helps.

My other thought is to purchase one PAP, the rest 10 day non expiring (for DH and 2 DS) and the DDE. Hmm. I need to crunch the numbers.

We also wrestled with this same question. We decided to go for the 10PH&more no exp. We like to visit the water parks when the weather is good. The kids also like DTD area a lot and so during the xmas trips we might try an afternoon at disneyquest for the daily outing.

The way we figured it was this:
10 park visits + 10 waterpark and more visits= 20 days of activities.

This can be spread out over more than the 2 trips we would likely make to disney in a one year period. After the last 8day trip, we spent 3 days at the parks (full days with afternoon breaks, but went until almost closing), 2 days at the water parks and the rest was spent at DTD or the resort pools.

Now, I'd be interested in possibly getting the one AP like you said just to get the discounted room rates and the DDE card.

Good luck.:thumbsup2
