AP voucher?

I took advantage of the online promo for the Power passes (buy one, get one half off) and they arrived today.

They look a lot like a regular passes (cardboard with a magnetic strip on the back). They say 2PK AP WINTER PROMO and 2PK WINTER 50% on the back and beneath that in very small print the date 1/3/03 (the day I ordered the passes).

My questions are (please bear with my ignorance as this is my first AP purchase):

Are these vouchers or passes? I'm not visiting until the summer and hope that they are not halfway to expired when I get there! I was under the impression that I have a full year from the time they are first used, not purchased.

If these are passes, what is to prevent me from sharing them with someone else as there isn't even a place to sign them? Does USF use a fingerscan like WDW does?

If they are vouchers, where do I go once I get to USF to activate them? What does the actual pass look like? Will I be able to make hotel reservations and get the AP discount if all I have in hand is a voucher?

Sorry for the rookie-like questions but I just spent a bundle on these passes for the family and I want to make sure that they will be valid for the way I intended to use them. Thanks!

They are vouchers. They will get you into the park, but you got to go to AP processing. You will fill out information, get your mugshot taken, and you will receive your plastic AP pass. AP pass processing at USF is to the left of the entrance by the stroller rental. IOA processing is to the left of the entrance somewhere near the Rocketmail mailbox.

It's between Port Provisions and Restroom. There is almost always a line so just look for that.

About the AP rate for the hotel. If the rate is available for your time, you should be able to reserve it. The just want proof at check-in. I did this in December with no problems.
As for the dates on the AP vouchers, they used the day we redeemed them not the purchase date, I checked the universal site, and could not see where they had a date where they needed to be redeemed by, but maybe you should check with customer service just to be sure.

You are correct you have 1 year of usage from the time that they are activated at the gate. When you arrive at the gate they will run the pass through the machine and then they will punch a hole in it and they will direct you to the vacation services department to exchange the pass into the plastic AP.
