AP TIW Question

We're first-time annual passholders. We redeemed our passes last Easter. Because Easter falls earlier this year, we're able to (most likely) go down again this Easter weekend.

Because of the 20% discount and the fact that we were going and would be dining during major holidays, we didn't purchase the TIW. During this past trip, however, there was simply too much food for the DDP. We decided that moving forward we'd try paying OOP.

I don't think we'll renew our APs, as I don't think we'll be back as much in 2018. We'll only do Easter (which falls under our AP) and then Christmas. With that said, would we be able to purchase TIW NOW, while we still own APs, then use it for the remainder of 2018, or do you need an existing AP to use it?

Also, I know it's very early to talk about this, but do you foresee Disney doing free dining until 12/22 or 12/23 again? Because if so, then it'd be worth to do a day or two earlier than we normally go and take advantage—we wouldn't need TIW then.

Just for clarity, if we were to purchase TIW, we'd use it Pro Bowl weekend (Jan 26-28) when my sister and I go; Easter weekend, then Christmas week. I'm aware of the blackout dates.

Just be aware that some holidays are black out days for using TIW.

I'm sure you already have, but I would work with the numbers to be sure you'll save money with it. Depending on the number of people and where you are eating, it can save a lot of money, but not always.

I agree with the above - run the numbers. We didn't get it the first year I had an AP, and by the end of the year, I was kicking myself. It now saves us a good chunk of change.
