AP testing week-how are your kids doing?

Our kids are starting to get nervous. These will be the first AP tests our twins are taking (sophomores). They are only taking 2 tests this year though (AP Biology and AP US History) so they have one Friday and one Monday. They will review in class all week so they happy about that. How about your kids, nervous?

DD will be taking the AP history test this week. She said she is nervous about it.

When we met with her history teacher at parent/teacher conference, he said that the AP test will have no bearing on her grade. I didn't tell her that though!! LOL!

I am more nervous about the 4 regents exams she will be taking in June!!

I'm a senior so I've been through this horrible time 4 times now . I've been on home-teaching this year because of health issues, so my 3 AP Exams (should have been more but I had to drop some classes last semester) are kinda the last thing on my mind...(and senioritis has settled in for sure ) but I wish everyone luck who's going through it now!!

I'm praying for all the kids taking all their AP exams. And while the exams don't impact our kids' high school grades (other than getting the bump for making a good-faith effort when taking the test), getting the appropriate score can give her college credit and therefore that has a big impact on college expense and course selection..

Ack! Wish her luck for me! I've taken 11 (after this year) AP Exams over the years and have always dreaded having two on the same day--thankfully it's never happened to me but I don't think I could do it!

When the twins brought home the sheet to sing up for the tests they were "complaining" that each test costs $55 (state subsidizes some of the test cost for each school). I just laughed. Let's see $55 now or several thousand later . With so many colleges going away from giving actual "credit" on a transcript for AP tests now I am not counting on actually saving "money" over the long run but it will look good on applications, etc. if they score well.

Wow! That's very lucky- ours are $86.

My son choose to only take the AP German test. He is only taking it now (he is in German 3) because the test is supposed to change next year when he will be taking AP German. He is confident he will do well and is not worried about it at all.

As for his other AP classes,he did not feel that he would do well enough on his AP English to bother paying for the test. He took AP Goverment last semseter and did not have a good way to study and is in AP Econ now and felt he would not know the material well enough.

ETA ~ Our's cost $86 each too. I am glad that he choose not to take the other 3 if he is not 100% certain he will score a 4 or 5 on them. He got a 3 on the tests he took last year, and the schools he is looking at want a 4 or 5.

My DD (senior) has her AP Calculus BC exam this Wednesday, and she's not sweating it at all. She's worked hard all year, and has over a 100% average in the course, and has taken so many practice tests already, we convinced her not to stress out about it. Her AP Physics C exams (1 for Mechanical, 1 for Electrical) are next Monday, and her AP Human Geography exam is next Friday. Same theory...she's got an A+ average in both of those courses, so no stress. She's done well all year, and if she doesn't know it by now, she doesn't know it!

My senior has 7 AP tests, my younger son has one. Both are doing pretty well. My oldest had some stress about two weeks ago, but thinks he's pretty ready now. He's studying constantly, but that's not really new for him. I'll be so happy when these two weeks are over.

My older son has the "I've got to get all 5's" mentality. My younger son is more "It's all good, whatever."

My son is taking his Calculus test on Wed, and Physics next Monday. He doesn't say much about them, so not sure if he's nervous or not. 2nd semester calc has been a little rough on him, so we'll see. DD is a freshman, and taking her first test next Friday, Geography. She is doing very well in the class, but seeing as this is her first test, I don't think she has any idea what to expect. I don't think she is very worried.
I am not terrible worried about them either.
Ours are $37 each.

Since our kids are only sophomores, they don't know what colleges they are looking at yet so I said to take them just in case. DS16 wants to go to Notre Dame so if he does go there, they don't really take anything, but if he goes elsewhere, who knows. DD16 is looking at Creighton-neither of them having been on campus or anything yet. I haven't looked to see what Creighton takes yet.

DD is taking APBiology test Fri and APUSH Monday. She doesn't seem nervous. She has been studying like crazy- even by the pool on spring break- taking practice tests. She went to school Saturday for review day.

The AP tests here are all covered but education lottery money. The kids/parents don't have to pay anything OOP.

The info booklet says they will be sent in July to the student, the HS, and any colleges you designated.

My DS had Chemistry today, US History Friday, and Gov't and Politics next Tuesday. At least they're spread out. I don't think he reviewed enough. Maybe after today's, he may cram. He also has the SAT tests for History and Chemistry on Saturday.

Our cost was $ 87 each so $ 261, with free and reduced lunch paying 0. They wanted everyone to take it. I can't wait till next year when he takes 6-7. But by then we should know if the college/s he decides on will take AP's.

DD18 should be finishing up her AP Psych exam as we speak. She has been a nervous wreck for the past few weeks, studied like crazy all weekend, and I'm sure will have a huge weight off of her shoulders in just a few minutes!

DD just got home from AP Psych. Said she thought she did well..... and this is from the kid who is harder on herself than anyone. She did study very, very hard and went to numerous extra sessions with her teacher both after school and on Saturdays. She also completed the entire Baron's guide. So let's hope she's right and that all her effort paid off.
She still has four more Eng. Lit, French, Art History and Macroeconomics. Pray that we all survive the next ten days!

DD had APES today and said it was much easier than any test her teacher gave this year. One more to go - AP Stats next week!
