AP Star Tours Crowds

Do you know if your Star Tours FastPass prevented you from having a FP for another ride at the same time? Was thinking of grabbing one for Space, then riding Star Tours when waiting for my Space time to come up.

Bummer that the rest of the park was crowded, but sounds like you had fun!
You can hold another fastpass while getting the star tours fp (i had one for space).
It wasn't horribly crowded. Just more than I thought for a monday. for reference, astro blaster was 20 minutes @2:30p, space's wait was 50 minutes @ 3p.

Hello all!

I just returned from the AP 9a-1p slot this morning.
We got there around 11a, thinking we would only ride it once.

Turns out, they allow you to get a fastpass once every 30 minutes (the fastpass machine will release one ticket per 30 minutes from timestamp). So....we ended up riding it 4 times. It was closed to the public (thankfully no soft opening!), and only AP members had access. So needless to say, there was absolutely no line. Most of the time, the starspeeders were only about 1/2 to 3/4 full, so everyone was able to shift around to get the best seats. If someone were super-determined, you could manage to ride it 8 times in the timeslot.

Out of the 4 rides, we only saw 2 scenarios though.

Anyone know how many there are?

I'm going to post spoilers, so highlight if you want to read:

The ride always starts with darth vader's scene. Then you go to the pod racer scene. Then here is where the multiple scenarios come in. A star wars character will show up with a message (each time is different), and
from there, the ending scene is different. They use the star wars character x
the multiple endings to get "54 scenarios" for their number, but i was wondering how many actual characters and locations for the end scene there are. I only saw three characters and two ending scenes (one in a city, the other is in an asteroid field).

Anyways, I was very pleased with how disney organized this. Out of all the years I've bought an annual pass, this one experience has made it all worth it.

As for rest of the park, it was surprisingly busy for a weekday. Definitely not weekend-bad, but I'm sure middle of the week will be lighter.

[Spoilers below]

It was purely a coincidence you got Darth Vader and the pod race every time. Those are separate,
randomly generated scenes.

I rode four times - never got the pod race and only saw Darth once.

oh wow. That's what i get for assuming... but really? 4 times in a row?
Damnit...this just makes me want to go back and ride more. :woohoo:

Very good info - going for the 4-8 slot tomorrow so may be a bit more crowded since some of the time is after work hours.
I'll try to report back.

Me too. Look for someone with an Epic Mickey shirt.

I entered the AP contest (didn't win) but can't remember if this Thursday is a AP preview day? Hoping if it is they do the same thing on Thursday that they did on Monday for AP who are there but didn't win. Might make up (not really) for the 3.5 hours we waited to ride on Friday. ;)

We'll be there for SOUNDSational on Thursday so hoping to ride again.

If it is on Thursday, what were the slots?

TIA

Never mind-I did a search and found it-it's not happening on Thursday.
However they are doing it on Wed. the 25th. Maybe we can stop by on our way home from 6th grade field trip to Knott's. We would be able to be there in time for the 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. slot.:goodvibes

Your spoiler is incorrect. We saw none of the scenario you did on our one ride. We did not start with your sequence and we did not see your second sequence.

We rode 4 times this morning. Longest wait was for the next 30 minute Fast Pass window to open up.

Possible spoilers below...

Saw 3 different trips - glacier planet, forest planet, and a pod race. (My nephew had all the proper names - I'm not up to speed on the Star Wars mythology.) Saw Darth Vader once, Princess Leia once, and Yoda once.

Didn't get identified as a spy. ;)

Noticed some changes in the queue area although the basic structure remains the same. The overhead conveyor belt is gone. The LCD panel now shows an infrared (or something like that) image of the people in the queue as they pass by.

I went today, had the 9 am to 1 pm time, but didn't actually get on until 10:15 am (waiting for a friend). Then I find out that you can go once every 30 minutes so I could have gone twice while I waited for him.

Anyhow, we went 5 times (the last time was the 12:15 pm) because we both had to be out of the park by 1 pm. After the first round, we went on Buzz Lightyear to kill a few minutes.

Crowds seemed heavy right around Main Street but then lightened up somewhat in Tomorrowland. It was basically a walk-on for Star Tours (except the last time where we actually had to wait a few minutes).

Saw Vader with Stormtroopers and Stormtroopers by themselves (1st scene), Tatooine and the Wookie home planet (2nd scene), Yoda, Princess Leia, and Admiral Ackbar (3rd scene) and Naboo & Death Star/Boba Feet (last scene). Never saw Hoth or Coruscant :(

I was the rebel spy the 2nd time around. It was neat!

Went for 4-8 yesterday - every 30 min (nearly) - got there a few min early so managed 8 rides!! Got all the possible individual bits but 1 so need to go more! 3 of the 4 of us got to be rebel spies as well ( row 2 seemed to get that the most often but not always ) . Very cool in that the hologram identifies the sex of the spy correctly - one time Leia said 'her', another time 'him'. Now that's attention to detail.

Naboo seemed to be the most frequent 2nd planet for us. Don't want to give more away. It's one great ride - and the excitement of waiting to see what planets you get really adds to it.

Also around 6ish they opened it up to all passholders. At that point they started 2 lines -1 for people with the winning email ( hold onto it ) and another for other APs. You need to show the letter and your pass every time you go for a fast pass. As usual the 30 min clock starts as soon as you get one.

AndyR - I saw the Epic Mickey shirt but didn't see your post first! Cool shirt though.

I have to second the above post. Did 7 runs, thought the Millenium Falcon and Naboo underwater sequences were the best.

Went today in the 9-1 slot, and it was more crowded than I expected based on previous posts. We arrived at around 9:45, got a FastPass, then it took us 30 minutes to get on the ride. They did check my e-mail, but did not seem to care that one of my friends had just gotten her AP today (so no April 10th rule in effect). They said we could ride every half hour, but we didn't go back again because of the line, as well as having DS3 with us and he couldn't ride.

The park itself seemed very crowded to me for a Wednesday. We went on a Wed/Thurs in mid-March, and the crowds were much better then. We didn't go on the "big rides" because of DS3, but we passed by and saw they had very long lines (eg 55 min for Space, 50 min for Indy). Maybe it's just me, but those seem like long waits for a Wednesday.

It is very crowded this week because of end-of-year field trip groups, plus those that are taking extended Memorial Day weekend trips.

I wanted to second the above post. I went in the evening slot last night, and by no means was it a "Walk-on." The first ride was. After that, it slowed down considerably. We even got into the first indoor queue- I didn't know there was one!
You first enter a rope switch back, then go into the indoor switch back, then back outside to the chain switchbacks, then finally inside to the preshow switchbacks.
With the waits, we managed four rides in 3 hours- plus a Spin on Buzz (10 minutes wait) So other than the initial walkon, the line was anywhere from 30-45 minutes- I can only imagine what it will be when the ride opens! :scared1:
Oh, and the CMs were TOTALLY into it! Attractions are THAT much better when the CMs are in character!
Without spoiling anything, I would like to know what options others got? Because in 4 rides, 1 and 3 were the same, and 2 and 4 were the same, but with the intro and holograms switched on all of them. So I have to wonder... if the ride is like a big slot machine, do they have all of the options turned on for the previews? It seems statistically off that the same two options, in the same order came up.
But other than that... AWESOME!!!!!
The crowds are about average for a weekday this close to summer-
20 min for Matterhorn
60 for Space
10 for IASW
etc. So not quite dead, but not summer or Saturday numbers either!
And if you are riding today, may the force be with you!!

We stopped by yesterday just to see if they were letting APH ride without the letter. We got there about 6:30 and the line looked pretty long. Talked to a few CM's and they said that it may be opened up to all APH later, but they didn't know for sure. We waited around about 1/2 hour and could see if it happened it would be awhile. We did see the FP line get congested when they ran out of tickets and had to reload.

Looked like most riders got back in line for FP as soon as they rode. I did notice that it didn't look like they were really checking the letters. I thought about asking someone in line if they could use our AP and get us a FP but I chickened out.

We left just after 7 without riding anything (we stopped by on our way home for field trip to Knott's)

This talk of longer lines is somewhat scaring me for my time slot on Saturday :scared1: If the lines are this long on a weekday, who's to know what it will be like on Memorial Day Saturday?? :confused3 Guess I will just have to see and hope for the best!!

i don't think Saturday will be any worse, as long as they stick to the winners only. Every time i went through yesterday, they checked your email before you could even get in line for a FP, and then a closer look to make sure the name matched before they let you into the machines.

Oh, and the CMs were TOTALLY into it! Attractions are THAT much better when the CMs are in character!
We heard one good line: "This flight brought to you by Wookie Cookies. Hope you like them a little Chewie!"

Thought I'd post an update about today. It was sort of crowded. They didn't start giving fastpasses until around 9:15. It took us half an hour to get a pass, then we went right into the actual line. And then it broke. They now only have one ship going and it seems they aren't letting new people in. We've been standing in the front room for 45 minutes now.

Hope they get this fixed soon or I'm gonna be super sad :(

Ours told us they were all out of Wookie Cookies and Yoda Soda, but would begin serving our Vador-ade shortly! :worship:
