Hi-just wanted to share in case anyone else is experiencing this problem. I recently purchased my AP. My AP shows up in MDE under reservations and tickets. However, when I try to check the special resort offer, it won't show any discounts for passholders--it just takes me to the page to purchase passes. After calling Disney and speaking with IT, they let me know this is a known problem. Something about the AP showing but not being linked on Disney's part in order to access everything. They asked when I was going to use the pass next...which depends on the resort discounts available. The guy said he'd put me down as middle of January since they are fixing the problem based on when you are returning. So in case anyone else has this problem...you might want to tell them you are returning soon so that your problem gets fixed quickly. When I asked how long it would take, he couldn't give me any type of estimate.

I just received an email from Disney's IT that I have copied and pasted:

Recently you had reached out to Disney's Internet Help Desk in regards to not being able to view Annual Passholder Discounts in My Disney Experience. Upon researching the issue further, this is due to the fact that your new Disney Vacation Club Member Platinum Plus Pass has not yet been activated with us and is still in certificate form. Once activated upon your next visit to the parks, you should then be able to see Annual Passholder Discounts in My Disney Experience. We do apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused.

Interesting that one IT rep said it could be fixed and then this response is sent. Does anyone know if this is a new procedure? I have been able to see and book my resort with an AP discount before activating my pass several times. I just activate it before I check-in to the resort I use the discount with.

Yes, this is a new procedure. You can no longer see discounts online without an activated AP. You'll have to call for rates and to book with an unactivated AP.

Actually, this is how it was for years. You could never see the AP section of the website without an active pass so you could not see the discounts either. I think the people who could recently see the discounts & book with a certificate have been benefitting from a glitch. And Disney has fixed things back to how it always was. Which I think is fine. Accessing the passholder section & booking should be reserved for actual pass holders. Otherwise, why bother having a special section.

Yes, that happened to me too, and is very frustrating. I have always had APs since 1995, and always able to see the AP discounts since it has been online. Sooo much better than the "old" days. IT desk also told me it was a known problem and would get back to me, and not to use Google Chrome. Then later, by phone though, not an email like you got, told it only works with activated APs. I had been able to access it when one AP had expired and had not yet activated the next, like you. So, yes, it seems new to me, I had it happen about July 2017.

I agree that it's actually working the way it should, but it's not how it has been. So yes, this is something new.

I have not yet purchased my new annual pass and my old one is expired a year or more. I can still see AP page on MDE. I am hoping when I get my certificate upon purchasing a new AP that I can book the discount with calling at least since I will have to call to co very my non discounted reservation to a discount if one becomes available. Oddly enough I made a small purchase on shop parks and it automatically gave me an AP discount even though I don’t have one at all currently.

I bought an annual pass online a few weeks ago and was able to access the annual pass holder rates immediately. I booked a split stay in April for AKL/GF. Be sure you are logged in when you look for your accommodations. I have purchased several APs over the years and have always been able to access the special room rates right away.
