AP Sales Paused

For some yes and some no. I usually let mine expire and I get 3 one week trips in. We go in the fall and spring. For example we buy AP’s for fall trip, use them in the fall, then spring trip, then go a week earlier in the fall. I get 3 uses out of one pass. So in 3 years I will buy only 2 passes.

Exactly; however, now we can't be assured APs will be available for purchase so we might be forced to renew. The price will be less upfront, but the cost per day will increase. Further, even if we can be assured that APs will be available for purchase, depending upon when you buy it, one needs to worry whether or not park reservations will be available.

Again, I am not attacking you. I really am curious - if you view their product that poorly, why are you here? What is your goal? You are not going to change Disney by posting negative comments here. Are you hoping to drive other loyal customers away from their business by posting terrible things?

That wasn't even my comment, but you don't need to be a genius to see all the money-grabs and changes lately. Everyone doesn't have to agree with every change, and they just keep coming.

I agree APs are coming back more expensive. I'm OK with that, but I can see why others wouldn't be. And yes, Disney has been moved by legit criticism from these boards. I would credit these boards with the redone point charts, actually.

Well, one persons money grab is another persons legit business decision. Certainly whether or not some of these things are really money grabs are up for debate. I still do not see how NOT selling something in a money grab. Clearly they would have made more money by letting people purchase the products they can't use. But that wasn't the base of my question.

The base of the question was if every time you have something to say, it's about how the company is trying to screw people, and it doesn't care about guests, and it's downhill, and management is horrible and evil, and so forth.... then why are you here? Literally, why are you at a party to watch Marvel films so you can sit in the back row and yell "I HATE MARVEL. I HATE THE MOVIE YOU ALL LIKE!" every time someone enjoys a scene? Have you nothing better to do with your time then to make fun of others who are enjoying their purchase? Like does it make you happy to look for people who are excited about their purchase and tell them how much you hate the company they believe in?

I would love to see evidence backing that up. These boards are such a SMALL PERCENTAGE of the overall base. There are MANY forms of Social Media out there. I could believe a combination of the twitter accounts, the FB pages, this and other similar boards, youtube and vlogger responses all together might move the company. MIGHT. But MOST of the feedback they collect comes more directly - emails to the company and likes / dislikes to official Disney messages and the response is muted to things like removing a video.

The DVC points change was due more largely to emails which a large number of people sent directly to DVC Member Services.

I highly doubt anyone is going to Bob Chapek and saying "Bobby.... Buddy.... this are a few threads about Genie+ over on Disboards. You know Disboards? Yeah and anyway, some of people are for it, a lot of people are neutral, and about 30 really vocal people who normally hate on Disney are very upset with your money grubbing ways"

and Chapek is going "hmmm. Well, it's like only 30 people".

"Oh, but Bobby listen to me... some of their messages get 30 likes on those. Clearly AT LEAST a few dozen people are really angry! Shoot it might be as much as a hundred or so!"

and Chapek is going "Well! I can't have that! let's cancel that 20 million dollar investment!".

And I know you are going to say I am understating the boards, but really... Look around. MOST posts get a few replies. A handful get to the hundreds. A few very rare hot topics get to the thousands and those are usually a few very vocal people on both sides and a ton of "I don't know till I try it" and a ton of off-shoot topics. Find me a post about how bad Genie+ is with over 100 likes. Or even 50. Or AP sales. Or DVC. Or anything. Even if they have unique posters number in 200 or so, Disney is NOT fishing through those for legitimate responses and adding up the for's and against's. I guarantee you they do not have that kinda time. Even if they did, 200 negatives is NOTHING.

They are looking at their youtube and twitter feeds and counting the 10k thumbs up and 300k thumbs down and basing their decisions on that.

This is me. I was considering buying a new AP to give me time to decide if I want to renew my current when it expires in March..

But now, I won’t get that chance because I procrastinated and didn’t buy it before they stopped. My own fault…lol

They will be back. The only question is if they come back before your next trip.

One thing we can gleam from this though - Disney is going to be paying more attention to the attendance numbers post pandemic. What and how they use that information is still unknown; but they are going to be paying better attention.

I should have said that. My window opens in January and I wanted to decide then because I have both a March and April trip booked after my pass expires, but due to parents health, those may not happen. If they don't, I won't renew...if they do, then I need to so I can get some park reservations booked and some are around Easter..

So, if by January they are not on sale, I will renew and go from there!!!

The math to the questionable charts wasn't done in 140 characters. It was done in spreadsheets and lengthy discussions.

These boards are a place to discuss those decisions, and DVC has been behaving disappointingly on many levels lately. As owners, this matters to us and impacts all of us. Everyone doesn't have to agree with everything. If you want to kumbaya all of Disney's decisions, just go to the Mom's Panel.

I didn't say you had to agree with everything. I said that Disney is not watching these boards, spending all day trying to sift through random posts and calculate how many people on here may like or dislike something and is certainly not giving one whit if someone replies consistently about perceiving them as ripping people off. I guarantee you they just do not have the time or the interest.

if you want to get Disney's attention, posting on random threads "DISNEY SUCKS" on these boards isn't going to do it. The only thing you accomplish there is trying to hurt others who are genuinely excited about their purchase.

Now if you want to have a discussion about if the point charts make sense, or if the calculations or off, or anything like that - oh yeah - absolutely. You should 100% do that. (But know that Disney is not reading it on here. Someone has to take that information and send it to them in a well written email to get their attention).

There is even value in posting things like the recent experiences with late check-ins. There is value in making solid, rational, and reasonable arguments about why you do not like a new system, or how it doesn't work for your scenario, or even better how you have learned to adapt to it or maybe get input from others how they have adapted. (That is not the same as liking it or agreeing with it).I don't even really find fault with the long, thought out, rational posts about why you are selling or why you are taking a break and considering if you should sell.

But there is LITTLE value in trolling posts and saying "DISNEY IS JUST HERE TO GRAB YOUR MONEY. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU". What do you expect to accomplish with that? Certainly Disney doesn't care. The only thing you can do by that is try to hurt fans. Now if that excites you, then great - that says a lot about you. But don't fool yourself by giving an argument that it's going to change Disney, because it's not. It has one purpose and one purpose alone - and that's focused on the fans on these boards.

All that said, YES you are allowed by the board rules to do that. It is not violating anything. I am not saying you CAN'T do it. I am just saying that a reply of "I want Disney to know I am upset" doesn't hold water. All you are doing is stamping down others who may be happy or excited.

Seems this thread has become divisive. Moderators, you may want to caution people because of the caustic "I'm right and your wrong" commentary it seems to be drifting to.

All opinions are welcome here...those that agree and those who don't about what Disney and DVC are doing.

It is possible this thread has outlived its usefulness, so it may make sense to close it down.
