I want to book 2 rooms with an AP rate when it comes out. We are two seperate families. I know with multiple rooms on an AP you have to check-in at the same time, but do you have to check-out at the same time? One family is staying longer.

i'm not sure about the check out issue, but wanted to let you know if you are planning a 2008 trip, there will only be one room discounted per AP holder.

No. I didn't know you can only reserve 1 room on an AP now. Since everyone in my family has an AP, would it be possible to reserve our room using my AP and a friends room on SW's AP?

I assume that to do that, your wife needs to be listed on the second room, so the room key with her name on it will be attached to that room and those dates. Without having to worry about tickets or dining plan being attached makes it easier, but if you were to have room charging privileges it could get sticky. If your wife is shopping after they've left and wants to charge to her room, she's either got a room key for a room that she supposedly checked out of already, or one with someone else's name on it. If you are to attend an EMH after your friends have left, that might be an issue, too, though it doesn't seem they've been checking room keys too carefully for that.
So I think the official answer is no, but I guess it can be done.
Good luck! Do your friends have AAA? Some of the AAA and general public discounts have come pretty close to AP rates lately.

Charging back to the room will not be an issue. We have alredy discussed this with them and have traveled with them in the past. They never charge anything to their room.

EMH may be a problem as we all plan to use EMH whenever we can. Although, we are going in August and it is HOT HOT HOT!!! Last August we planned on utilizing EMH, but were so worn out, we opted to stay at the Poly pool in the evening. The kids were happy swimming and I was happy sipping tropical drinks instead of treking through the parks dripping with sweat in the 100% humidity at night.

I'm not sure what we are going to do at this point. We were all able to secure aaa rooms. There is no doubt DW and I will switch to AP when they are released. If they allow us to book our friends using DW's AP and give us a hard time about it when we arrive, I will definately make a scene (and I am generally a quiet person).

I would go with what you stated -- book the rooms under AAA as you have. Then if AP rates come out switch yours and ask about switching theirs.
The discounts may not be enough of a difference to be worth it.
Guess I am not understanding why you would want to make a scene if you book a room under your DW's AP with no intention of her staying in the room. :confused3

We are doing this in Jan. Me and DH have AP's and my parents are going with us. My DH and I have to each be in separate rooms BUT the CM told me after the first night I can go to the desk and tell them My DH and my mom are switching rooms and they will change their keys.

I HATE the way you have to make seperate ressies now. It is such a pain. I will warn you--if you are going to go to the front desk to have rooms changed--BOTH parties must be present. Otherwise, forget it. Last trip, me and my mom changed rooms--I gave her the room with two windows at POFQ. I went to have that fixed and it was a BIG deal. Since charging was not an issue, we just swapped key cards for the week. I long for the days when we had 2 connecting rooms and the keys cards opened BOTH doors.
