AP resort discount availability

Thanks to snykymom and TJA in another thread, I realize AP may be a nice deal for me in case there are no public discounts for Nov (or I don't get a PIN).

I'm booked on BCR, water view, non concierge. However, there is no availability for this kind of room for new bookings, it seems sold out.

So, if I buy AP and call Disney, would they apply the 40% discount to my existing reservation? Or do I have to make a new reservation, meaning I'll need to choose another room type / resort?

I found your previous thread so I could refresh my memory on your info . I priced your dates at full price and all that shows up for BC is the CL rooms (standard and lagoon views CL). So I doubt any other BC room categories will show up at a discount unless they get a whole bunch of cancellations. So, no, you probably won't get a 40% deal on your current water view room. You'd have to modify (over the phone with disney) your current reservation to change your resort/room type and also add the discount.

However, the good news is I priced out your trip on the AP site at YC and the water view room is available at YC at the discount. Nov 6-12, 6 nights, total of $1829. To break it down, Nov. 6-10 is $270 per night, and Nov. 11 is $276.

I hate to tell you, but right at this very moment the BC CL room is not showing up anymore. But don't give up hope if you like the idea of that room type because it's still available at full price, so it might reappear at a deal as people cancel and make changes.

What I did, after someone checked the AP site for availability for me here on dis, was call, tell the cm that I was thinking of buying an AP and asked him to look if the 40% discount was available on what I had, he did, it was, and I booked w/ the 40% discount. I also went ahead and bought the AP from him (you only have to have 1 AP for an adult guest registered in the room at check in.)
I'm at the YC, I personally didn't want to gamble w/ not getting a full balcony (1/2 the bc rooms only have 'juliette' balconies.)

I'll gamble a bit and wait until Aug 16 (some say Aug 13) for any public offers.

If no discounts until then, I'll do the AP thing (hoping there will still be availability). In this case I'll need your help again TJA
