We have reservations using the AP rate, however, I haven't actually purchased my AP yet ... will that be a problem at check-in?

We arrive late at night due to late flights, so I will not have a chance until the next day at the earliest. I attempted to purchase a voucher at Disney store and they told me it would take 3-4 weeks for a voucher (and we leave next week).

Advice / comments / experience ?

The official answer is, "Yes, you do need your AP at check-in", however, in our experience, it hasn't been necessary. We have checked into 5 WDW resorts (AKL, CR, Poly, ASMu, and YC) over the last 13 months with AP rates at each, and were never asked to show the AP. We had a voucher at the first AP check-in, and the actual AP at the others - they just never asked to see it. I thought that was strange  .

Dear surfgirl:

During check-in at both ASMu and AKL in January, we were not asked to produce our APs or AP vouchers even though both reservations were made using an AP discount.

So...no worries! and have a great time!

I agree, we've never been asked for our AP when checking in. although there's always a first time. I think if you explain to them that you have to get it, they will probably apply it after you get it.

I asked two weeks ago, at ASMuwhy she never asked to see my AP (once check in was finished)..she said she didn't have to..it showed up on the computer from my giving information when I got the AP. She said they only ask for it if it doesn't pop up on the computer that I had an AP.

When you are online making your ressies and you ask for annual passholder rates... don't they ask for a membership number or something?

I mean anyone could ask for passholder rates and may never be caught at check in.

The Disney Store told me the same thing, it came in in about a week. When are you going? If it's a couple of weeks or 3 just go back and order it, if it comes in after you get back you don't have to buy it.

You're supposed to show it at check in. If they ask, they expect you to have it.

I'm looking at my PAP, there is no membership # on it or anything. I guess they have it in the computer, that's why they've never asked to see it.

Exactly, when you purchase your Annual Pass you give them your name and address so they do know who has one and who does not.

As to the orginial question, some resorts will go ahead and let you check in without the pass and then bring it back to the desk for verification. Some won't. It is up to the personnel on duty at the time. If you don't produce the AP before your check out, be prepared to pay the full rate.

Thanks everyone!

Its not that I'm trying to scam a cheaper rate, its that the logistics of having the voucher in hand by the time we check in is impossible. I will be purchasing (and activating) it the next day, so I will be more than happy to come back and show them then. Sounds like that will be okay.
