Last year I purchased a Disney Platinum Pass. I ended up getting an extra month (13 months instead of 12 months) because of the promotion they were running at the time. My Platinum Pass expires 8/28/2018. If I renew, will my new pass be good until 8/28/2019?

Actually, it will be good THROUGH the end of business on 8/28/2019.

Follow-up question if I may...

My current pass expires end of business on 2/18/19. I know rates usually go up before that - or I think I remember that from last year. If I'm planning to renew, is there a way I can get a certificate or something before that I would just activate when my current one expires or something?

The earliest that you can purchase a renewal is 60 days before your anniversary date.

Your old/current AP will continue to be valid until its anniversary date, and the new AP (the "renewal")
will automatically become active (start counting down its year of use) at that time.

Gotcha. Thanks! I wouldn't be getting it until Christmas at the earliest, so within the 60 days. :)

Does anyone know what the cost for Disney Platinum Pass renewal? Tomorrow will be my 60 days out day for my renewal. I have a trip planned in November so I need to make FastPass selections in a couple of days.

15% is what they put on the mailer I just got.

How late after expiration can you renew and have it still be active for next trip? I want to push out my calendar date a little bit so it doesn't renew right around Labor Day.

1. You can get the renewal price up until 30 days following your AP anniversary/expiration date.

2. From that question, I think you may have the renewal idea confused.

An AP "renewal" is just that. It renews the original (or current) AP right down to the date (just one year later.)
So, no matter on which date you choose to "order/pay for" the renewal (it can be done anytime from 60 days prior to your current anniversary date on up to 30 days following your current anniversary date,) the original/current AP anniversary date will REMAIN THE SAME (just pushed one year later.)

How will I activate renewal of AP?

My AP expires on Oct. 26, I have a trip planned for Nov 18, I have paid for my renewal already. Price was $767.87 if anyone wanted to know.
My 60 day for my trip in Nov is Sept. 19. Can I now activate the renewal AP on line, so that I will be able to get my fastpasses in September?
Hope someone understands this question!!!!! Disney sure keeps us on our toes. Thankful for the Disboards!!!

When I renewed my AP, the expiration date just changed (inn MDE) on the anniversary of my pass. I didn't need to do anything.

No purchased AP (new or renewal) needs to be activated in order to advance-book FP+.

In the case of ordering in advance a brand new AP (called an "AP certificate,")
it cannot be activated except in-person at WDW.
However, just owning that certificate is enough to allow
advance-booking of FP+ on the dates that apply.

In the case of ordering an AP renewal, it is simply a continuation of an already active AP,
so it will also allow the advance-booking of FP+ on the dates that apply.

If you just have the certificate, can you get passholder room rates?

I can do you one better.

You don't even need to have the AP certificate in order to book a WDW resort with pass holder room rates.
ANYBODY can book WDW resort at pass holder room rates.

You only need to buy and activate the AP after you arrive, if that's what you prefer.
(Although, as we were talking about up-thread, most guests will want to
buy the AP certificate before 60 days in advance of arrival in order to book advance FP+.)
