AP Renewal Questions

My AP expires on Thursday and my birthday is on Friday. Because of my profession and distance from Disneyland, I am essentially unable to visit the park in February through April. Until last night, I had thought that I would be unable to take advantage of the free birthday offer, so I was going to let the AP expire and renew on my next visit, though now my next visit is on my birthday.

So, here are my questions. If I renew the AP online, how do I pickup the new one? I don't want them to mail it since I leave next Thursday and it probably won't get here by then.

Not having the AP in hand also brings up the question about parking. Will they send me a confirmation showing that I've purchased an AP that allows me to get free parking, or will they somehow reimburse me for parking after I pick the AP up?

Suppose I don't renew and just get the new AP on my birthday. Will they apply parking towards the AP?

Thanks again.

If you renew online I believe there is a option to pick up your pass. What happens is you get a print out ticket and take it to the ticket window and they will print your pass there. I think you will still have to pay your parking since the print out will not be your real pass, but don't worry if you bring in the paid parking pass they will reimburse you your parking.

If you renew your pass at the ticket window, yes you will be able to put the parking towards your pass. I just did this last week for my own pass.

Have fun and Happy Birthday!

But..... IF you buy your pass ON your birthday... will you still get the gift card? :confused3

From what I have heard yes. Most buy their ticket then go to Guest Services later and get their GC.

If you buy an AP on your birthday, you can either buy an AP and get the gift card, or get your free ticket and upgrade it to an AP.
Oooooooooou.... that sounds like a better deal... so they would actually let you deduct the "free ticket price" from the AP?... that is like 1/2 off of the cheap pass!.. WOW, what a deal! Thanks for the info! :thumbsup2

Correct.

After getting your free birthday ticket, just go to City Hall anytime during the day and upgrade to an AP.

If you pay in full, they will deduct the $69 price (and bring your parking receipt, because if you buy a parking pass or a Premium, they will reimburse you the $12).

If you are a California resident and get the AP on the payment plan, the birthday ticket is the down payment, so the down payment is essentially waived.

You can upgrade to any AP, even if an AP that is blacked out on that day.

Getting a California Select AP on payment plan is the bargain of the century: no down-payment, and about $6/month!

Here's the way I see it in my case. If I let the pass expire the day before my birthday and renew on my birthday, I can apply the free birthday ticket to the AP and save $69 off my AP renewal. If I renew before the pass actually expires, than I get $30 off the AP renewal and the birthday fun card.

For those whose birthdays fall well in advance of their renewal, they can get get a free birthday ticket good after their pass expires and use that to upgrade if they so desire(or they can get the fun card).

In my opinion, about the only time worth using the birthday fastpass option is if a family already paid for park admission, only has one person celebrating their birthday during the visit and has 5 or fewer people in the party so they can use the fastpass. Even then I don't think it's a better financial option, but I wouldn't want to be a parent having one child with a $69 gift card in Disneyland and another without.
