AP renewal question

Hi - I activiated my AP last August 31. I just received my big offer of $20 off for renewing. Wow! :thumbsup2

Hopefull I can make clear my question. I intially bought my AP, but didn't activate it until August 31, 2011. So if I renew by 8/31/12, but our plans are not to go back to DL until June 24 of '13, would my renewal date still be 8/31 or would it change to a year from June 24?

I hope I'm making sense.

Thanks in advance.

Since it is a renewal, it would extend your current pass to 8/31/2013.

Hmm. I think it would renew with your current date, though sometimes if you don't enter the park they adjust it. I would call Guest Services. For renewals though they usually just send you the new pass, so there's not that time between purchasing and activating it if you don't go into the park right away.

That's what I was thinking, but I also didn't realize it wasn't activated until we actually went to the parks with it the first time. Haha I'm a newbie at this.

I'm just debating on whether to renew or just buy what is now the five day pass and upgrade to those extra days when we get there. If I could renew and it would extend out, I would renew definitely, that way there may be a better shot at going again within that next year.

It was worth a try!

Thanks!

I've been told if you renew (and save the whopping $20) you are locking in the same renewal date. If you aren't going until next June, you are probably better off not renewing. I would just keep an eye out for future price increases, and buy the AP vouchers before they increase if that happens before your trip.

Yes, that is what I did when I bought mine initially. I read on this fabulous board that they were increasing the price and bought it right away since I knew I was going for two extended visits last year.

Like my hubby said, seems like they would give you a little more incentive to renew?

Because right now we're contemplating buying four APs or just doing the five day and upgrade option . . . . Just saying it might have swayed us a little more.

If you renew, the expiration date will remain the same, just one year later, so in this case August 31, 2013. It is not worth the $20 savings in your case in my opinion.

This is absolutely true and I totally agree. If you don't plan on going until June 2013, you are wasting 10 months. It is NOT worth $20.

This has been the renewal incentive for at least the last 10 years--even when the premiums were less than $200. One would think with the prices being so high now, they would give a larger incentive to renew, but with this recent price hike, I'm thinking DLR doesn't want so many AP's.

Watch very carefully around Christmas if they revert to a post holiday price increase, or buy vouchers for new passes in 2013 watching carefully for a beginning of Summer increase. Use the 2013 vouchers to activate on your June trip. Right now if you get an AP voucher its only good to activate in 2012.
