AP Renewal Question

I have a dilemma. My family's annual passes expire this month. We are planning to renew but we will not be going back to the park until June. Should I go ahead and renew now or should I wait until June? We will not be going again until the June trip but I wasn't sure if there was any incentive to not allowing a pass to expire. Any input out there among our Disney experts? Thank you so much!

I'd let it expire UNLESS you're getting a Deluxe or Premium pass - which they will discount by $20 for a renewal. The only benefit I've gotten from renewing lower passes ( I buy Deluxe for me and my 12 year old, So Cal for my grown son and his family ) is a 20% discount coupon per pass off purchases. That has been useful since I have a BIG habit...

Also: Costco has the deluxe pass for $269 ( same as gate price ) - but it comes with a $50 disney gift card. So this year I'm doing that instead of the renewal. It's a voucher, so any member can get you this.

Keep your passes -they can look up the number and still give you a fast renewal (skipping the long AP line ) with your old picture even if it has expired.

Also: I found out if you go on your birthday and sign up for the free admisssion you can upgrade to an AP - so basically save $60 off the price. This is better than the $60 gift card you get as an AP because if your birthday happens to be on a blackout date, all you get is admission for that day.

Wait. You won't get the $20 discount for renewing but June is months away which means you'd be wasting far more money than you get back in the discount.

It almost never makes sense to renew if you have a lapse in visiting as the cost of the pass divided into 12 months is at least 10 bucks a month. By waiting you get that much longer to use it into 2010 before you have ot pay again.

Our AP's expire next month ~ we won't be renewing till we visit next ~ maybe October. I'd plan to upgrade from PH's when we do this. Would this work? Where do you go to do this, so you skip the *long AP line*?

I am currious about skipping the long AP Lines also?:confused3
Our AP's expired last weekend and we won't be going until May 30th. We are getting a package with the new promotion and then plan to upgrade while there. It is nice to get the package perks once in awhile, as well as the early entries.:thumbsup2

I usually go to the Guest Relations (Services?) Window next to the lockers outside DL. I tell them I want to renew my AP and they print out the new cards right there.

We got new APs for Christmas, our old ones expired in July. When we processed our Costco vouchers at the ticket booth they gave us our new APs right there. They keep your photo/info in the system for 2 years so they will have everything on file. When we upgraded from Hoppers we did it at the ticket booths in the middle of the afternoon, we then just walked into the bank and did photos. It didn't take long at all.

As for renewing, if you're waiting and getting Deluxe APs buy the vouchers from a So Cal Costco (as long as they have them left) you will get a free $50 gift card to use. BUT make sure you are aware of the vouchers expiration date so you are sure that will fall in place with your plans. :)
