AP renewal price

Do you get to pay the renewal price only if your continuing an AP which is expiring?

Or can you get the renewal price if you've had an AP previously but have let it lapse for a while?

Or are you back to first-timer price again?

I don't remember the price I just paid to renew last month when we were down, but you have a 30 day grace period from your expiration date to obtain the renewal price. It's a pretty nice savings - I'd never let it lapse and buy new.

You only get it if you renew within 30 days and then they backdate the pass to your last day on the last pass- you have to keep it continuously to get the renewal price. I think this is a change from before.

We ALWAYS let it lapse and buy new.

The advantage is that the new AP will be active from the start-point of your latest trip, and run for a year after that.

I allows a later end date for us to use that AP.

Its all in how your trips to WDW are timed.

If you always travel at the same times, and make a couple of visits a year, it makes sense to RENEW.

But if, like us, you keep a more "open" schedule of trips, the few bucks more you pay for "starting a new AP" allows for more flexibility with what amounts to a "later" end-date on the new AP.
