AP Renewal/Activation Question

I have had an AP for a few years now, but never renewed anywhere except when actually at DL. Thanks to you wonderful people here at DIS I was able to renew this year at a significant savings before the price went up...so I already have my new pass in hand.

My question: is this new pass already activated, or do I use my old one (which expires during our trip) and activate the new pass after I arrive?

I am assuming you have an actual pass and not a voucher or anything. I did the same thing and received my new annual pass by mail. The CM I spoke to on the phone said the old one would be valid until the expiration date or I could use the new one (it didn't need to be activated). Hope that helps!
