AP Rates - Why Blackout Dates for 2/3 -2/5

I was looking at the new Ap rates for Jan and Feb. I was wondering why there are blackout dates for 2/3 -2/5. We were thinking of going this wee but don't want it to be too crowded. Is ther a special event going on at this time?

I believe that's when WDW will be celebrating Mardi Gras.

Mardi Gras is not until February 8, 2005 - after the blackouts dates.

Yes, but my understanding is that WDW's celebration is the weekend before.

Try AKL. I got Feb 2-6 ap rate . I read a posts where other people did too.

We are going Feb 5-11th. Is that going to be crowded?? I really don't want to go to Disney in the cooler month if I am going to hit crowds anyways. Please let me know how I can find out more. When you say Mardi Gras, do you mean DIsney actually has a celebration for this or is this just when Mardi gras is in New Orleans. Thanks!!!

The last several years PI has celebrated Mardi Gras the weekend before, and the actual Tuesday. I understand a lot of people from NOLA try to escape to WDW, or anywhere else really, to avoid the crowds.

I am going Feb 5-12, Mardi Gras Week. I live in Lafayette Louisiana. We celebrate Mardi Gras too. From what I've heard, there are a lot of people from South Louisiana going Mardi Gras week. Our kids are out of school the Mon, Tue & Wed. We're leaving them miss Thu & Fri. A lot of our friends are doing the same thing. Also, Mobile, AL celebrates Mardi Gras too. I don't know how their kids are off of school, though. Just some info for you guys from a LA girl.
