AP Rates tomorrow!!

Not to hi-jack, but are AP rates generally just as good as best rate?

I have the best rate for a split stay Dec 9th-18th.. Before booking it I spoke with two CMs and finally guest services. I called because I was having trouble logging onto the passholders website, but that's another story. Anyway I was told that whoever booked using the best rate plan would be guaranteed the lowest available rates. Because I was having trouble logging onto the website and because they couldn't book it for me (even though I offered to give them my AP#) I was considering waiting for an AP code the old way. They did not recommend I wait, saying there was no way an AP Code would beat the best rate plan. The lady with guest services said that if we were willing to take the chance with the nonrefundable deposit and $50.00 change fee that we would be rewarded with the lowest rate. She said there was no way the rates would be the same as Disney would then have alot of very angry passholders on their hands, who had taken the chance and booked using the best rate plan. She said that IF AP codes were offered the old way, that they would have to be less than with the best rate plan.

Hopefully AP codes will come out in the next day or two, but I would not expect them to be as good as what people will get with the best rate plan. I may be wrong, but what I think will happen is that the AP code will match what we now have with the best rate plan and then the rates for the best rate plan will then drop a little more.

I think that the benefit of using the best rate offer was that you are guaranteed the best rate that Disney will offer for your resort type and room. I don't think it means that your rate will be better than anything else offered to an AP holder. You just have a guarantee. I didn't get in on the best rate offer in time so I have to wait for the code to come out and I MAY not get it if they sell out fast. This is why the best rate offer plan is better - not because the rate will actually be better.

The Best Rate isnt going to give you a lower rate than everyone else. I thought it was you automatically get the lowest rate that comes out without having to call back and change it. I too, didnt get in on the best rate because by the time I knew I could go at THanksgiving, I had just missed the 120 window. :badpc: So if and when they release the AP rates, I will have to call in and hope to get one. The Best Rate peole will get that rate first, and it will automatically be applied to their room. But if its 59 bucks for ALl Star Movies.. best rate and the call in rate will be the same. We just have to hope Disney releases those AP rates to us!!!!!!!

That's exactly what I was wondering-if you have best rate and the AP rate is even a couple of bucks less they should automatically switch over the best rate people right?

Now, I am totally confused. So, if they release AP rates, will it work like the AP rates did before the Best Rate plan came out? You can call and book the AP discount without actually HAVING the AP yet. You just have to present it at check-in? This was my original plan, then the best rate thing came out and I thought they were doing away with the old AP plan altogether.

Yes, it will work like the AP rates before the Best Rate plan came out. You do not need to have your AP with you when you call to have the AP rate applied to your reservation. But you will need the AP when you check in. :)

I guess we'll find out soon, but as I remember the details of the best rate program, the people who signed up for best rate will automatically get all of the AP rates that are released first, and then if there any rooms left over, they will be available on a call-in basis. Is this how everyone else remembers it?

AP rates not out as of today, 8/22/05. I just made a reservation for 12/26/05-1/1/06 and the late fall rates aren't out yet. The CM said he hoped the rates would be out real soon. I told him I thought they should be out the last week of August and he just repeated that he expected them out soon. I went ahead and had him reserve the room with the 14 days to call back to make the depsit so if the AP rates come out and will be available for that week I can make a smaller deposit. If it won't cover those dates I can message our dates or just suck it up and pay rack rate :sad1: .

Do you need to have an AP for everyone on your reservation (I.e. whole family) or just the person making the Resi ?

I just talked to them and the CM said that they will have AP rates, the regular old way, out soon for the next set of dates. She said the Best Rate Program is designed for AP holders, since they come so often, just to give them a heads up on the deals.
Your post has confused me. How can a CM say that the Best Rate Program is desinged for AP holders, since they come so often. An AP rate is just that, an AP rate, you cannot get an AP rate unless you are an AP holder. You may call in and get the rate, but without the pass at check in & they ask for it, you will not get the rate if you cannot prove you have one (or at least the voucher). Unless you mean by actually having it in your hand for the numbers on the back. If Disney designed that program just so you have to log in the pass number, they can eaisly ask you for it over the phone & verify it in the system???? :confused3

We cannot answer that yet.. best rate program has just recently started & since it has, no call in AP rates have been released. Your guess is as good as anyone's at this point. I can tell you that AP & FL resident rates are usually the same. I am thinking that the best rate program rate may turn out to be the same as well (if they do actually have call in AP rates)

I called this morning and not AP rates for December, yet. The CM did tell me to check back, just didn't say when.

Bummer! :sad2:

Thank you! I think I will hold off on getting the AAA membership then and wait a week or two and see what happens with the AP rates. ;)

Yes, best rate people get switched over automatically to the lowest rate being offered.
I thought it was the lowest general rate? Although imagine the storm if they come out with AP rates lower..which I doubt they would.
I think the title to this thread is incorrect though..here is 2003 and 2004 according to Mousesavers, ..I don't expect them tomorrow.

Check-in dates 10/2/03-12/26/03 Annual Passholder room-only rates Became Available 8/28/03, exp 12/26/03

Check-in dates 9/30/04-12/25/04 Annual Passholder room-only rates Became Available 8/25/04, exp 12/25/04

I am also hoping for an AP rate..."The old way" Should I call every morning at 7:00 just like I booked CRT? Do they fill up at certain resrts. (I am hoping for the Poly.... :sunny: )
Thanks!

Somewhere buried in these threads here about the Best Rate Program someone had been in contact with WDW (may have even posted the email response, although I'm not 100% sure on that) and it was explained to them that the Best Rate people would get the lowest rate that was being offered to "the general public".. My take is that AAA rates, post card rates, etc., would not be included in the Best Rate program.. :confused3

And I agree - if they come out with anything lower through an offer not available to the "general" public - WHOA - gonna be a hot time in Disney! :earseek: LOL

I don't know, that is what she said. All AP rates are obviously for AP holders, but the Best Rate is ......well shoot, I don't know! She just said what I said she said. My main reason for posting was her saying that there WILL be AP rates, the regular way......meaning not having to book online only, 120 in advance, etc.......out soon!
