Just a heads up for those of you who were wondering about this.. Several people on these boards have received telephone calls from Disney in response to their email and have been assured that AP rates will still be available the "old fashioned" way.. The Best Rate Program is in "addition" to the usual call-in AP system, not a replacement..

So for those of you who couldn't/wouldn't participate in the Best Rate Program, you still have another option.. :flower:

Thank goodness. Only one of our trips each year is actually planned at 120+ days. The many others are more spur-of-the-moment. Since I refuse to pay rack rate for WDW rooms when others can book them for less (I did it for WAY too many years before discovering the DIS!!!!), Disney would be losing much business from my family and me. Like many here on the DIS, we stay at deluxe resorts, eat at TS restaurants, and have to buy souvenirs for 3 children. I would think that the income generated by others like us would be far, far greater than from removing the current AP system.

Thanks for the information but I have a question. My AP expired so I was going to purchase one there and show it at check-in . Will I be able to still book AP rate the old fashion way with out my voucher and just show it when I get therelike I did last year? Or will that change too?

Sorry, but I don't know the answer to that.. Actually it's something I need to know for myself - if I decide that the rates are something I'm willing to pay..

Maybe someone else will pop in here with a definitive answer to that.. :flower:

Yes, C.Ann is correct. I was one of the folks that came home to a LONG message on my machine from a Disney CM. Very professional upbeat person who raved about the success of the best rate program. But emphasized that this is a NEW and ADDITONAL AP perk. He said to give it time, but not to worry because the old way of booking was also still available. Time will tell. I hope so, because we sometimes do the last minute trips.

I've always booked my AP rate by simply telling them that I was an AP holder, never been asked for a number or anything. I would assume having the voucher would work as well. You do need to show it when you get to the resort though.
