AP rates? how does this work?

We leave tomorrow, and am considering upgrading to APs.
First.. any chance of AP rates during thanksgiving and weekend after?

we LOVE the dining plan and love split stays. am I correct that my only options with an AP to be able to add the dining plan is to either book a regular package, and add 1 day base tickets - or... to book a room only AP rate and then be able to add dining?
We can't book a regular room only rate, can we, and add dining as AP holders? It has to be a special AP rate that they would be running, right?

Trying to decide if it will be worth it for me to upgrade or not.
Also... we're looking to go for Thanksgiving - would there be AP rates during a holiday like that, and also weekends? We want to do the APs so we can get the AP rate and add DDP - but if those dates would usually be blacked out for AP rates, then seems pointless to spend the money to upgrade to APs. To add 1 day base tickets to make a package, really tosses out the window any savings we would have had with getting the APs.

My hopes were to book a split stay, two room only ressies and add dining plan, being an AP. not gonna happen, is it!?

If you have an AP, YES you can book a regular rack rate room and add dining, it doesnt have to be discounted. You can absolutely do what youre thinking of doing

We stayed at WL in 2008...arrived the saturday after Thanksgiving and departed the next saturday (Dec 6th?). I bought an AP because they did have AP rates available at this time. It was a fantastic week to go! Low crowds....some days we could swim and some days it was COLD (but that was fun with the holiday decor!).

I also added dining for my entire family (I'm the only one with the AP)...you just have to add dining 5 days prior to arrival (I think that's the rule) and prepay it.

Yes, you can also add dining to a regular room rate or the discounted AP rate. I think we got 30% (mayber 40%) off our room. WL is December is fabulous.
