I just noticed the AP discounts of $101 for a DVC. I think we get 25% off as DVC. Which is the better deal?

We are paying cash for the weekend nites with a link reservation. But saving money means more dole whips.

We get a 25% cash ressie discount subject to availability. It's not always available.

The only way to know for sure is to call MS and ask, and then compare the same accommodations, for the same dates, at the same resort.

Thanks Jim, I swear I am brunette but the moose thing has really made my brain into mush.

Funny that you're asking this, I was just comparing both AP and DVC-discounted rates for a weekend in June.

The AP rates aren't out for the weekend I want, but I used June1-3rd for comparison.

These are for a studio at the BWV ( still trying to get to SWW, but that's another story)

AP rate for the two nights-$580.50
DVC rate (rack - 25%)- $605.82

Not a huge difference there. Hope that helps!

The little money saved means more dole whips for me. I guess I best go call and see what they say. Thanks for letting me know.
I just called CRO and they quoted me a bit over $500 per nite for the 2 br villa. We have it for $450 per nite with DVC discount so I will just stick with it. Now I know. Sorry I didn't think to just call.

The AP discount was better for March 4th at OKW. It was 279 give or take a couple of bucks with DVC, 256.60 with AP's

If the villa is booked for cash through MS, the cash reservation can be linked to the points reservation so you won't have to move. What happens if the villa is booked through CRO with an AP discount? My impression from other posts I've read is that CRO/AP rate reservation cannot be linked with the points reservation. So is there a risk of having to move to a different villa in that case?

It depends on the room size. Usually AP rates are better on studios. Once you hit $400 rack rate, 25% off is $100 off, so larger rooms are cheaper with member discount.

I've done it both ways. With a member discount, they will give you keys and parking permit for the entire linked stay. With CRO, you will have to check back in and get new keys & parking permit. There is the slight risk you may have to change rooms. Also, you have to be sure you booked the exact same room (lockoff vs dedicated, views at BWV).
