AP Rate Question

I'm sure this question probably has been asked, but the search doesn't seem to be working.

I plan on getting an AP to use in October (will probably buy online and get the voucher to activate while I'm there). Can I use this AP to get a discount on the room, even though it won't be officially activated until the next day (We'll be arriving late friday night).

If an AP rate is available and you have a voucher, then you can book the offer. I have even booked before I bought the AP without a problem, but had to show the AP at checkin...
