AP rate...how hard to get??

I am hoping that someone can answer my DH's question. We are going to be taking our two DS's ages 3 and 8 next summer to DW for at least 10 days. We are seriously considering buying AP passes for all of us since we will be there for so long so that we can come and go in the parks as we please and also try to get an AP discount on our room. Our question is how hard is it to get an AP rate at the Deluxes?? I would hate to buy the AP's and then not be able to get the room rate. If getting the Deluxes are too hard is it easier to get into a moderate. We are just thinking if we get the passes for 2005 then we would take possibly two more trips before they expire in 2006 but we want to know what we are getting into.

The difficulty in getting AP rates can vary a lot as Disney can put any number of rooms into the AP "pool"; it can differ by resort and by date.

But you don't need to buy the AP before making the reservation!!
You just need to have it when you check in. So feel free to postpone that decision until after you know whether you'll need it or not.

Don't purchase the APs until you know that you have the rate the first trip anyways. You can probably know if there is an AP rate 3-4 months before your trip.
