We are going in December and want a friend to get a room as well in Disney. We are Annual Passholders, but she is not. We would like to get her a room with our AP's. Is this possible? Or do we have to be the ones checking in to the room. Any help is appreciated. :jumping1:

According to what I have been reading, you can use the Best Rate plan to book up to 3 rooms with one AP. The only thing is I believe that you have to check in at the same time, and the deposit will be on your credit card. I also think that you may have to pay for the room at check in. They may not let you use your friend's credit card. This is also a sticky situation if things are charged to the room keys, then you may end up getting charged for them. I am not 100% sure of this, but this is what I have been lead to believe about the new Best Rate system.

I'm a little confused about Best Rate as well. Yesterday I looked up the best rates for our stays in December. I was unable to get concierge for one night of my stay so I went and looked up the AAA rates to see if they had availability. Not only were there AAA rates but they were cheaper than the Best Rate. Now I'm left trying to decide if I should book the Best Rate or the AAA rate. Clearly there are advantages to the AAA rate because I can cancel or change with no penalty, but does anyone think that Disney will meet the AAA rate? Will the Best Rate possibility be lower than the AAA rate? I just don't get it. I have never felt more uncomfortable with Disney than I do right now.

we went last month with my mother in law and i was able to get 2 rooms. we had to treat it as one reservation. we had one reserv. # and had to pay for everything with one credit card. we were paying for her anyway since she was helping with the kids so it wasn't a big deal for us. if i were you though i would not allow charging to the card because it would be really hard to keep up with who charged what to the card, other than that i think it would be a great idea.

forgot to mention that both rooms have to be at the same resort and the same room view/category.

I'm also pretty sure the AP holder must be listed on the reservation.

I was able to book 3 rooms separately for extended family members that we are travelling with in November. I was told we can just change the room from my name to their name when we check in. The balance can be paid by them. There are 3 separate reservation numbers.

We did this in May. I had put down the deposit, but once there, my sister was able to use her charge card for the rest, including charging.
When my daughter got there (she came 3 days later), I either had to prepay, with her and my name on the room, or be there at check-in. She also used her own credit card for the balance. To put her on my AP, did mean the new CM had to get it ok'd, since she didn't know how to do it, while I waited on the phone, with guest services. In the past, I had no problem having someone come in at a later date.

I am very interested in the correct answer also. :confused3

I have 3 rooms booked under the best rate. Sister-in-law & nephew would like to pay for their own rooms via credit card before we arrive. SIL called CRO today. CM did not have access to total due but was able to pull up the ressie. CM said that with the ressie being done via internet she could not take payment. I guess the AP holder needs to pay for all the rooms. This really throws a wrench into finances. Not everyone has the cash for something like this (for reimbersment) & were planning on using their credit card to pay for their room. I don't have an issue putting it all on my card. The issue is getting reimbersed by the others that are going.

The wway the system is now you can't make payments at all for Best Rate rooms . The balance has to be paid at check in, it doesn't matter whose name it is in.

It's always hard to get a "correct" answer since everyone's situation is a little different. If you would allow me to guess, I would guess you could not prepay using different credit cards.
As I stated, we all used our own cards for our balances, once we were at Disney.

dcgrumpy is correct that Disney will not accept payments between the deposit and before check in on the Best rate Program.

I called CRO today & got the correct answer. You cannot prepay. If you have more than one room reserved under the AP Best Rate program & the others going with you are paying for their own rooms everyone has to be there to check-in at one time. The others may pay for their room with whatever method they want but the AP holder must be there with them.

They didn't have to be in May. We flew in several days before my daughter. The difference is, maybe CRO has to have that OK'd with guest services, if it's not all the same day. She did check, when I made the ressies, and we were good to go.
By the way..there is seldom a correct answer with CRO. YOu get a different person, you're likely to get a different answer.
