I'm so excited to be going back to US/IOA!! We took a trip pre-Christmas in 2007 and had a blast. This board was instrumental in saving me a ton of money too! :goodvibes

We're planning another pre-Christmas trip, probably Dec 17-22. Last time, we bought our park tickets and then upgraded one to an AP when we arrived to get the APH hotel rate. This time, I'd like to take advantage of the AP ticket discount. We can purchase an AP now, but it won't be activated until we arrive. Must we wait until the AP is activated to buy the rest of our tickets?

My parents might be going with us this time. We'd be under the AP ticket limit (1 AP and buying 4 tickets), but can we use the one AP to get the discount on two hotel rooms? Or would we need one AP holder for each room?

The Dec rates for HRH seem to be a lot lower than when we booked this time 3 years ago! We booked our room at RPR for a price initially over $300 per night. Right now, HRH is looking to be around $235, and I've seen mention that discount rates for December aren't out yet?? :confused3

I believe you need to purchase the tickets at the gate in order to get the AP discount. As for the room I not positive but I think you need an AP holder per room, but it would be best to call the hotel directly.:thumbsup2

I was able to book 2 rooms for July with one AP.

You do need to have an AP passholder staying in each room. You can book the room but at checkin they will require you to show them a pass or you might get charged rack rate. We book multiple rooms when we go, this year we have 4 rooms either under the AP rate or the FL Res Rate. We were always told that either a FL Resident or an AP passholder has to stay in the room to get the rate.

Just an fyi :) don't want you to get there and they spring that on you.

Absolutely! They'd probably charge me the highest rack rate they had, and then where would I be? LOL!

On our last trip the hotel never did check our AP. We checked in before we went over to the parks. I always intended to go back to the desk and show it, but never got around to it. It wasn't a problem, but I'd never count on them being lax.

When I talked to reservations they told me I could reserve 2 rooms at the AP rate with only one person having an AP. I made sure of this, as that was the only reason for me to buy an AP - for the room savings.

I was told an AP for each room booked, although i read that people booked 2 rooms on 1 AP as they needed the other room as there was 2 adults and 4 children with them, so needed the extra room.

I believe if they need two rooms because of all the kids, you register 1 adult in each room w/ the kids and you can use the AP to book 2 rooms. I'm not 100% certain, but I think you can do that. Just ask the hotel.

:thumbsup2

We had to book 2 rooms because of the kids and only had to show 1 AP.

The person I spoke with today in reservations told me that I would only need one AP since I had guaranteed connecting rooms. I hope that holds true when I check in! ;)
