One....is it active the day of purchase or the day of first use?

Two...is it mailed to you? I seem to remember something about going to guest services to get it....

Thanks!

Oh, and is there/was there some kind of deal where you got a couple extra months? Do they still do that?

I think it depends on the AP. I purchased mine in July but am not going until this weekend. When I bought mine, it was a special buy one year, get one year free promo, and it was activated automatically on Sept. 30 if not activated before then. So my two years started on Sept. 30, not when I actually pick it up.

According to the email I was sent once I bought the AP, I had to bring the credit card I paid with to guest services to get the AP.

I'm not sure if this is standard with every AP, but that's what happened to me.

Boy, I keeping thinking of new questions!

If I get the AP and my room rate goes down before we check in (right now we have AAA rate), would I be able to apply the APH rate? Or would I have to cancel my existing ressie and start over? Is it a big hassle?

Are the other discounts worth it? 10% doesn't seem like much. But we are definitely going back and I could use it to get discounts on next year's tix for DH and DS, right?

Thanks for that, MagiKitty. I just played around at the universal site and when I clicked purchase, it did tell me 15 months for the price of 12, so that part is settled. Two years would be awesome!

In all honesty, what convinced me to get the AP was the free parking. We're going for a week this time, and at $11/day, that really adds up! So the price difference between the 2 park/7day ticket vs. the AP was minimal, PLUS if we go anytime in the next 22 months, it'll pay for itself!

For me, I look to save EVERYWHERE> 10% really adds up when you consider food, drinks, souvenirs. Especially with the holidays around the corner!

I'm new to the AP thing, so I can't help you with hotel rates. I've heard that the AP rates are far better than AAA, so I would suppose if you already have one reservation with AAA, you'd have to start over to try to get the AP rate. I'm sure there are far more knowledgable people on here though!

Thank you, my fellow NYer! I am leaning toward the AP. My next question, once I get there and get it, is it a piece of paper or something like a credit card that will keep and store well for 15 months?

hey yeah, you are my neighbor! Hiedy-ho there!

After I made my purchase, I was sent an email confirmation which stated to print it out to bring to the parks along with the credit card used to purchase. I hope that's all I need!

I'll be picking up my AP (hopefully!) on Sunday, so I'll be able to give you more info if you want next week when I get back.

ooh, I reread your post. I have actually no idea what the AP looks like. I would hope it would be a card of some sort or else that's just asking to get lost....

The only AP that is still the credit card type pass is the Premier Pass...the Preferred and Power passes are just like a regular ticket.

Okay, thanks Metro West. Good to know. Maybe lamination or a plastic holder, like for baseball cards would work to keep it safe.

MagiKitty-the last time we went I did the electronic pick up and I brought the print out and credit card to the kiosk...no problems...our tickets shot right out. As to parking, we are flying in and using a car service to get from Disney to the HRH and again to MCO.

So, if I get it & activate it on 12/14/07, it would be good until 3/14/09 right? I think I am going for it.

If you laminate them they will turn black as there is already a laminate in the passes. Just like the Disney AP's they look like paper tickets but they have plastic inside them and are very durable. Plus if they do get messed up, just get another one printed at guest services for no charge.

Thanks for the tip, phantom.

I went ahead & did it... I am proud owner of a Universal Orlando Annual Pass!
