We are thinking of going with the AP but I was a little confused on a few things.

1. Does the AP rate apply to any room? For example, can we book a Lodge Tower Room at the Grand Floridian, or is it just for standard rooms.

2. Does Disney only allow a certain number of AP rooms or do they have to give you the discount if there are rooms available?

3. Is your AP activated the day you purchase it, or the day you activate it at the parks? If you check in before you "activate" your pass what happens or can they activate it at the resort?

It seems as though when they are available that they work for almost every category of room (ie standrad, water view, concierge), but of course what is available for each time period rates are released probably can fluctuate some based on booking levels.

I'm not sure on this. I fairly sure though that there are a certain number of rooms available in each category at each resort and once they are gone that is it, unless they release some more or someone cancels.

3. Is your AP activated the day you purchase it, or the day you activate it at the parks? If you check in before you "activate" your pass what happens or can they activate it at the resort?

If you purchase your AP at the theme park it will be activated that day. If you purchase your AP ahead of time you will need to activated your pass at one of the theme parks or at DTD Guest Relations. They cannot activate your pass at your resort. If you check-in before you activate your pass they may ask that you come back and show them that you have activated your pass within 24 hours or they may not even ask to see your pass. They have never asked to see my pass, but I always have it ready in case they need to see it and verify.
