AP Questions - Please Help

I am contemplating getting AP’s for my family, but I have a few questions:

Do you get any MM privileges?
Are there any other perks not listed on DL website (it seems kind of vague)?
Is there access to TTMM tickets?

As an AP holder, you only get access to MM if you stay at one of the DLR properties (PPH, DLH, GCH) and then you get access each day it is offered with use of your hotel charge slip.

The discounts are based on what type of AP you have. Premium gives you the greatest discounts on food and shopping (15%), while Deluxe and below give you 10% on dining at certain locations. AP's are offered discounts at the DLR property hotels during off-season times of the year, however, the discounts haven't been that great lately IMO. AP's also get discounts on certain tours.

The only way to get TTMM tickets is by purchasing a package through WDTC, AAA or other company that goes through the Disney Travel Co.

Sound pretty reasonable. My main reason for getting AP's is the cost savings if you go more than once a year, so I think it is definitely worth considering. Thanks again!

Yep. We had a package last September with 5 day tickets. We knew we'd be down once more for a visit to my brother's, and we always go for a one day Disneyland trip when at my brother's. The cost of the 5 day hopper and a 1 day ticket would be more than the Deluxe AP. Therefore, even before the discounts, with our already-planned trips for the year, we were saving money.

Of course, look at my sig for how much money we saved this year so far, LOL...

When you purchase an AP, it is an ANNUAL AP--meaning it's January 1-December 31, no matter when you buy it, right? (Meaning not a lot of purchases in late December?)

Or, (I don't think so, but this would be better as I'm thinking of buying an AP) is it ANNUAL in the sense that when you buy the pass it is good for one year from when you buy it?

I feel really dumb for asking! So please be nice!

It is one year from the date you first use it. (not the calendar year) So even if you purchase it a week before entering the park the "year" would start the first day used.

Like the previous poster said, the above comment (but NOT your parenthetical thoughts about it) is right! It works to your advantage. This is one case where it's good that what you thought was wrong.

We upgraded from hoppers, so ours are good from the first day we used the hoppers, Sept 18th 2007, to and including Sept 18th of this year.

Yup, ours are from July 16th to July 16th. They are an actual Annual Pass as opposed to others who have yearly passes. Well worth it!!

no, we plan on arrive Wed night....using the hoppers for MM for Thurs and Sun and Sunday getting the AP's, so we can take advantage of the MM's first and then the 10% off dining Sun and Mon.

Just make sure you upgrade by the last day used. Let's say you plan to leave on a Sunday, but the last day you used your hooper was the Saturday before your departure day, you must renew by Saturday, not Sunday.

No because say for example you have a 3 day park hopper that you want to upgrade to an AP and you are visiting on a Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. If you upgrade your ticket on the first day (and are not staying onsite) you just lost your MM privileges for Thursday. But you are allowed to upgrade to an AP on Thursday or Friday after you've used the MM.

As long as you get the premium with no blockouts! We always get the deluxe because we live in Az, and then fret over the Saturday's we are blocked out.

For our 5 day trip in May, we have purchased 2 day Park Hoppers for friday and saturday, then will upgrade to So. Cal AP on saturday. This gets us past the saturday blockout day (number of blockout days differs with the different AP levels). Also, you can take advantage of the AP food discounts after you upgrade.

No... in fact you want to wait. That way you can use your MM from your hoppers then upgrade.

O.K., one more silly question. When you upgrade are you refunded the full price of your hoppers, or is there some sort of penalty?

The price you paid for your hoppers is encoded on the back of them. The CM will deduct this amount from the cost of the AP you are upgrading to. No penalty.

So, to sum things up, my best case scenario would be to:

1. Purchase hoppers
2. Use said hoppers for MM
3. Upgrade hoppers to AP's after MM is completed.
4. Reap the benefits of being an AP holder.
