AP Question

We're thinking of getting an AP for the first time. If I remember reading about it before, we can buy an AP now, we'll get a voucher, and we activate when we arrive. We can also tell the Disney folks on the phone that we will activate when we arrive to get hotel discounts in advance. (Please let me know if this is wrong.)

But a couple of questions still popped into my head.

1) Can we get free parking on the day we activate the annual pass?

2) If all we have is an AP voucher, can we still make fastpass reservations ahead of time?

(We'll eventually be staying in a Disney hotel, but probably not the first trip.)

If neither of these are true, is there a way to activate your annual pass before you arrive?

1. Maybe. If you politely ask this question of the ticket agent who exchanges the voucher, you might get your parking money back. If not, Guest Relations may be able to help.

2. Yes. AP vouchers have a number that can be used to link them to MDX.

You can not activate voucher except at WDW. You do not need the actual AP to book an AP rate at the hotel. You can get after you arrive, after you check in even, just show sometime during your stay at the front desk. The AP voucher can be used to link to your MDE account to make FP. If you don;t have your AP when you go to a park, pay for the parking and then show your receipt when you activate AP to get a refund.

I believe you can pick up your AP in the Guest Relations in Downtown disney, where there isn't a parking fee.

Or, pay for parking at a theme park, and show your receipt when you activate your AP to get a refund.
