I am curious...so if buy my AP's in October then the first day I use it is October 18th 2010 does that mean it's good until October 18th of 2011?

It would be good ON the 18th of 2011, not just to it! They basically give you 366 days in that way, and in a leap year, 367.

You print the piece of paper and it has a bar code. At the turnstile they will give you a regular ticket (just like for any other online ticket, go directly to the turnstiles, not the ticket booths), and at some point during the day, you'll have to go to the AP center and get your picture taken for your AP card. In the meantime, though, the paper ticket they give you at the turnstile can be used to collect fast passes if you don't want to get the card ASAP.
