AP Question

We currently plan on being in the parks for 10 days this trip (June) and may decide to go again within a year. With this in mind I am considering purchasing APs for the family. Being DVC members, I know we can get $100 discount on Annual Passes.
Is there any benefit to purchasing a discounted 10 day MYW from Undercover Tourist and then just upgrading the tickets to APs at WDW if we're sure we'll return within a year?
Can we still get the DVC discount when upgrading a MYW ticket?

We went during free dining last September and had a 8 day park hopper. We upgraded it to the AP using the DVC discount. We had it done at Downtown Disney. The CM was very helpful.
