I am trying to figure out if getting an Ap will save me $, and I need your help!
I am planning on going in Dec 08, May 09, and Dec 09. I got the Visa FD promo in December with 5 day base tix for $1765.
I called to check the AP rate for the same dates and room, and it is $1076 without dining.
Do you get an dining plan discount ever with an AP?
Does it make sense for me to get one?
Ahhh!

I'll try to help since I was in your same boat earlier this summer. Since you have the same child set up as I do (based from your signature) but I'm not sure when the 2 year old would be 3. You can still get the free dining package IF you purchase a 1 day base ticket, which can go towards the purcahse of your annual pass. However, look at the breakdown this way - dining plan would cost you around 90 a day for your family. So that's $450 for the dining plan to add to your annual pass rate - grand total of $1526. $240 cheaper. (you can add the dining plan to annual Annual Pass room discount, but they do not offer it free to us as they won't stack discounts). If you are certain you are going to be going more the AP might very well be worth it. I have no regrets. I just stayed at the Poly for 8 nights in September and paid $1956 with my AP discounted rate. We also purchased the Disney Dining Experience card (now called Tables in Wonderland - don't ask me why though). We ran the numbers when we got home and it would have costed us around 900 for the dining plan to be added (720 for the plan and the rest in tips). We spent $617 our ENTIRE stay eating TS every evening and had 3 TS for lunch. The card costs $60 and is extremely worth it. So, you just have to weigh your options and jump in.

I hope I didn't cause massive confusion. If you have any other questions - please let me know.

I would suggest getting the APs since you will be planning three trips. Just make sure that the third trip falls withint he 366 day mark of the first trip.

You will save money with APs, even if you are not using the AP discount for the room. We purchased our APs this year, because we are planning to visit WDW at least twice in the 365 days after first using them. The Visa free dining offer initially seems more expensive than the AP rate in the pre-planning stages (and cannot be combined with AP rates), but for the quality & quantity of dining you receive with FD in combination with the 20% discounts at TS with the Tables in Wonderland card ($60, only for Passholders), you will save more money in the end.
