Do you need to purchase an AP before you call Disney to book a room at the AP rate??? I thought that you could book the room and then purchase the AP and just show it at check-in. I just got off the phone with a CM who told me that you need the number of the AP before you book.

If you do need to purchase it first, can you then book the room immediately or do you need to wait til you get the voucher in the mail?

Thanks in advance!

I have never had to give my AP number before I arrived. My last trip with an AP rate was in Feb 2007. Is this something new?

I am considering buying an AP if I can get a good room discount, but the Cast Member told me I could not book unless I already had the AP, that is what I wanted to clarify here.

We just got back from the BC where we booked with the AP rate and was not asked for the number for the reservation. HOWEVER, for the first time in hundreds of trips using the AP discount, we were asked for it at check in.

I've made AP room reservations twice. The first time I was asked for the #, the second time I wasn't. I think it just depends on the CM you get on the phone.

We bought one AP and will get the rest when we arrive - just bought one to use the voucher to book AP rates - when I called once they were released, I wasn't asked for any code/voucher number at all. I will have it upon check-in though (the voucher). Do I need to get the actual AP before I check-in, or will they take my exchange voucher?

While they like to have the actual AP at check-in , numerous people have reported no problems with just visiting the front desk to flash their AP at some point in the first day or so after check-in.
