AP purchase with DVC discount

I plan to buy an AP on my next trip in May and take advantage of the DVC discount.
Do I need to order this ticket ahead of time through MS? Or can I purchase it (with the DVC discount) at the gate? Also, can I use my Disney Visa Reward dollars for this purchase? I have enough reward dollars to cover one adult and one child AP.

We purchased our PAP's in January at MK Guest Services and got the DVC discount without any problem. We also used our Disney Visa Rewards to wipe out all of the bonus bucks that we'd earned. We then put the remainder on our Disney Visa! It made a substantial difference! I'm sure that you'll have no problems either.

I'd hate to order the rewards card (which would expire in December, beofre our trip) and only be able to use it to buy the disocunt APs at WDW.

I think if you order the rewards card now, it would expire at the end of next year -12/31/2006.

CarolMN is right. I recently ordered a new Rewards Card and it says expires 12/06.

One advantage (the only one?) of buying your APs early is that you can then use them to order a Disney Dining Experience card, which you cannot get when you arrive.

I was just reading on another thread about the dde that someone said they bought the dde at down town disney and picked up their letter at Epcot.

You can do that if its Monday - Friday normal business hours. The DDE office is only open during that time.

I got my rewards card, and used it to purchase a discounted AP on the DVC member website. It worked like charm, rewards card is one of the payment options on the site, you just enter the numbers of the card in the spaces just like a credit card!

I have a different question, but along the same lines.
We already have our APs. We renewed right before the DVC discount.

Anyway, when you renewed before the DVC discount, they gave you a 30 day window.

Does anyone know if we still have 30 days after expiration to renew without losing the discount?

I don't think anyone can answer that because we are all still crossing our fingers that the discount will still be in effect Jan, 2006.

I hope they don't wait too long to let us know it will be good for next year (and the year after that and the year after that ).

Ours expire at the end of September, 2005.
We will be there the first two weeks of September.

Just trying to figure out if I should give in and renew it while down there.

Normally we wait and renew in October. Gives us a few weeks to recover from the expense of the trip.

I gottcha. Well, technically, I think they can take back the discount at any time, but I don't think they would do it mid-year, so (IMHO - which isnt worth much ), I would think you would be fine waiting until October.

I know this was explained earlier but if I buy the APs with DVC discount before jan2006 I don't need to activate them until my April trip, right?

Thanks everybody! Good to know the rewards cards aren't expiring until next Dec. I've been waiting to order mine, but now I can go ahead. 11 months to go, but I'm ready to be back in intense planning mode!
