Is there any advantage to buying AP's before your arrival?

I was going to buy them with my credit card and pick them up at will call window but my CC charges an extra 1.8% for a fee when buying things in the US on top of our exchange rate.

I now think I will just get my extra money and wait to by them at the gate...Any reason to buy ahead?

This will be my first time buying an AP, but I've researched it quite a bit and I don't see any advantage to buying before arrival. I plan to buy mine the evening I arrive at WDW. The only disadvantage I've seen to buying when you arrive is if you plan to buy the AP the morning of your first park day, it will delay your entry and you would miss some prime early-morning park time. But I'm buying mine the evening before so that's not an issue for me. The only other thing is if you have a resort booked with an AP rate, you'll need the AP or at least the voucher to check in. Again, that's not an issue for me, but it's something to consider if you're planning on an AP rate.

There is no financial advantage to buying them early. There is no discount, no nothing.

People will buy them early in order to get that expense out of the way, but it doesn't save you any money.

Am I correct in thinking that if you buy them at the AIRPORT they are already activated when you get there? That is what I would do.

Check out what Mary at Mousesaver's has to say about this topic:

We WILL be buying ours ahead because we'll be arriving at POFQ late and will want the voucher in hand at check-in. (Hopefully they won't ask for an activated AP. If they do, we'll head over to DTD to activate it.)

Yes, you are corrrect. The airport stores sell the activated pass (not the voucher).

Best wishes -

I bought APs in advance for two reasons:

1) It helps spread the cost out over time; and

2) My BF doesn't see how much they cost. :earseek:

I think it will greatly increase his enjoyment if he never sees a dollar sign on the trip! ;)

The only reason to purchase ahead of your trip is if you are concerned about a price increase. ::MickeyMo
