I know the Annual Pass is offered on a payment plan online. Is this also an option at the gate? I would like to use my Visa Reward dollars to pay and they don't work online. Thanks!

Yes, I'm pretty sure, but you must buy one entrance ticket then the rest can be paid monthly.

Do you live in Southern CA? Because in order to do the payment plan you have to live there. I think I remember seeing that as an option at the ticket windows when I was waiting in line last year.

I was really jealous...wish we could do that no matter where we live.

Good catch.

Q: I don't live in Southern California. Can I sign up for Monthly Payments?
A: Unfortunately, no. The Monthly Payments option is currently only available to residents of zip codes 90000-93599.

I don't think you need to pull any tricks (like buying a regular ticket then applying the price to a passport) to purchase a passport at the ticket booth and you should be able to do the monthly payment process if you qualify.

You may also visit any Disneyland® Resort Main Entrance Ticket Booth to purchase your Annual Passport at the Resort.

and

If you have never had an Annual Pass or have a Pass that has expired, purchasing with the Monthly Payments option is currently available only at any Disneyland® Resort Main Entrance Ticket Booth.

Tho that second one is a bit misleading. You can buy a first-time AP online with the monthly payment option. At least you could a couple months ago. But I included it to show that buying an AP with the monthly payment option should be possible at the ticket booth.

However, I doubt you'll be able to use a rewards account for the recurring payment. You may be able to pay the initial $72 with that but you'll need a regular debit/credit card for the future payments.

Thanks for the responses! I am a SoCal Resident (sorry, I know there's some hostility for us!) so that part is fine. And I had planned on only using the rewards for the initial payment, not the monthlies. Looks like I am in good shape. We plan on arriving Sunday noonish, going for a swim at HoJo's and then walking over to the park to purchase our passes after dinner. I assume they sell them at any time the park is open? Or do they close the office that does them?

:confused3I don't understand why only so cal residents can choose the payment plan for AP's? I mean I get the whole so cal discount thing....I don't like it, but I get it. :flower3: But how does living in so cal make a difference when it comes to a payment plan, money is money. Is it because if you don't make your payment ontime Disney sends out thugs (or maybe Goofy and Donald) to get you to pay up, and they don't want to have to put them on a plan or roadtrip to go get the money? I mean this one just doesn't make any sense to...maybe someone here know why.

I have been curious about this as well.

Keeping it local makes it affordable to "send some guys" if you get behind on the payments.

On a more non-jokey note, it probably has to do with lending laws which vary from state to state. And they already had the SoCal restriction coded into their order processing system so it didn't require any additional development effort to make the option available to the majority of California residents.

I'm just guessing.

I'm only guessing here, but I think it's because Disney wants to cram as many people as they can into the parks, every single day, so this is one way to get more and more and more and more people to buy passes. It seems to me like now during off times, the parks are great in the a.m. but fill in the afternoons - like after shool. I think these are the So Cal AP's.

At least So Cal people don't get the payment plan option if they choose deluxe or premium - they have to pay up just like the rest of us.

Monthly is an option for all levels AP, not just the SoCal versions. Even shows a breakdown right on the first page you get when you click "Buy->Annual Passports". $30.59/month for premium.

Here's why (I think) Because a person can buy an AP for only $72 down (a one day, one park ticket price) then use it 5 or 6 days in a row and leave going back to lets say...Colorado or even Northern California and never come back again but they got into the park for a bunch of days for only $72.

The only way they enforce that pass when someone doesn't pay is to BLOCK IT. So they figure (and it happens everyday) that a local will WANT to come back again and again, so when it's blocked you then have to Pay up!

Also, on a side note; If you stiff them, you will never get an annual pass again for like "the rest of your life"
