AP Passport Question

The darn tax where I am in L.A. is 8.25% and the tax at the Disney hotels is 15% - yikes!!!
The 15% tax at the Disney Hotels is only on your hotel room. It's a transient occupancy tax, not a sales and use tax. If you buy something at the hotel gift shop, or in the parks, you will pay 7.75% sales tax, which is the same throughout Orange County.

I totally missed that, sorry

I'm in the same boat in Northern CA. I wonder if you bought the AP at the Disneystore at Oakridge...that's where I had so many problems buying mine.

Thats EXACTLY where he got it !!! Wow, i guess he's gonna have a rough night with them before we go !

The 15% tax is on the rooms AND the resort fee at the hotels. I did say "Disney hotels" in my original post! I know it is not applied to merchandise or food! Heaven forbid - I don't know how they would sell merchandise if that were the case!

I thought you must have missed that Jenn, since you're in Santa Cruz. :) LOL

Jasmine, I hope your sweetie gets his money back for the tax!! If not return them and just get one when you get there! You guys have fun!!!!!

:goodvibes  :wizard: I just got off the phone with Patty from the ticket line and she was very nice super nice.. :goodvibes she told me to go back and talk to them on the sales tax. If they are having problems with it she said to tell them that I talked to them.. Very nice person.. I LOVE DISNEYLAND hahahhh

UPDATE !

I just got an angry vmail from my fiancee  APPARENTLY they did not activate ANY of our tickets including me, my fiancee and his two sisters. All separate transactions by the way. NOW we have to go to guest services when we get there and try to sort everything out. Otherwise, the girl that worked there said we can BUY A NEW ONE. Total CRAP. Its official; the people that work at the Disney Store at Oakridge SUCK.

NO  Wow, I'm so sorry and yes, you're right, the people that work at the Disney Store at Oakridge really do suck.

I think if you call the store and ask specifically for Jose (he's the "real" manager) you might have more luck than dealing with the other people who work there.

I hope it gets sorted out...what a drag! Kinda takes away the magic, doesn't it?

Note to self...never visit that store!! Holy cow!!!!! Sorry you guys are having so much trouble, I hope you get it all worked out quickly and easily!

I'm sooo disappointed about today.. They were even showing commericals for buying tickets at the store hahah.. I just hope everything gets taken care of over the DL. Other then that my DL spirte is almost back to where it was.. :sad1:

I guess you have to have your photos taken at the DL Bank? Beware - I don't know what time this will be when you arrive at the Bank, but the line was loooooooong last week on Thursday AND Friday. My friend who has an AP said there used to be another place to get your photo further down on Main Street in addition to the Bank, but it is closed now and only the Bank handles it. It will eat up a large chunk of your day standing in that long line, so try to head over to DL as early in the morning/day as you can!!!

Will do, We'll see how long it will take us to get our AP passes and my sisters park hoppers fixed. I am never going to a Disneystore ever again.

I'm sorry future cousin-in-law :( Jazzie just told me about it earlier. How about a hug?? I'll give you a real one in a few hours when we see each other ! :D

Hi there, does anyone know how late the bank is open?

I was told that the Bank stays open until about one hour before DL closes. However, during peak seasons, they may leave it open slightly later or if it is slow, they may close it down a little earlier. When I arrived on Thursday, October 2, I think the park was supposed to only be open until 8 or 9 p.m. This was my first venture into the AP world last week, and we got to DLR kind of late. After I had gotten checked into the hotel and made my way to the ticket booths, I noticed there was a long line of people buying tickets and passes. I had to wait about 15 0r 20 minutes. Then, I had to get myself into DL and over to the Bank for my (horrible) photo, and it was just about 7 p.m. or right before at this time. I saw the huge line and thought, 'The Bank is going to close before I can get my picture taken.' But I think they were helping everyone that was already in the line and then maybe cutting it off at some point. The whole thing was very time consuming, but necessary. I would rather get it taken care of on a day we are not supposed to be in the park rather than eat into our activities with standing in line on park day! When I finally got up to take my photo, they did it quickly and I grabbed brochures and Backstage Pass magazine and things - which they are supposed to offer you but they didn't. I just took them and ran. I looked at my photo on the back of the AP and it is AWFUL! The lighting they used was bad and the photo looks grainy - I compared it to my friend's photo, which was not grainy (she had the photo taken in January). The camera must have been bad or something, because it made it look like I have black tar in between my teeth - or big gaps - and that is just NOT true! I wanted a do over, but they don't do that at the Bank, so I have to live with that BAD photo for the next year. I also look like a senior citizen in it, but that is beside the point. My friend's picture from January looks normal and no weird shading or anything going on between her teeth!

We got our AP's in July, the wait to get our pictures done was oh.....about 5 minutes. LOL We went in the middle of the day, it was great, in and out. We did the kids' pics the next day and that took about 10 min.

Hello everyone just got home about an hour ago hahaha. Well when I went to the guest service department like I got told to do was also a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.. At first they were telling me to go back to san jose, and go to the disneystore to get it taken care of. I told the CM NO! ! After a couple of mintues his upper mangement took care of it and everything turned out to be okay. One other thing that got me a little more upset was that they said they couldn't do anything about the taxes charges. There was at least 4 to 5 other families with the same problem. Sorry to say this but as of friday my Disney spirit went down :sad1:

To add on to what my fiancee said, there was a family from Arizona who drove all the way to DLR and were denied the chance to get their ticket situation fixed at guest services. They said the best they could do was to purchase NEW tickets for all 4 of them and take care of the tickets that were NOT activated by the people at the Disney Store once they got back. Some people DON'T have money like that. It was RIDICULOUS.

WazowskiLOVER! I am so glad to see you are back on the DISboards! I know you must have had fun despite this ticket situation. I started a thread a couple of days ago about sending a complaint AFTER a DLR trip is finished, and have been AMAZED at the responses from people who have revealed how, basically, DLR was not that concerned and kind of apathetic about various complaints like unclean hotel rooms and food poisioning (like you had at Tortilla Jo's). I even referred to you and your TJ's experience in it! I am really startled at the lack of good customer service on Disney's part. I think they set such a high standard for themselves and they can't live up to it, so they are falling below other non-Disney places in terms of service. You could get your meal comped at Chili's or Marie Callender's, etc., if you get sick, but not at DLR!!!!! Anyway, the thread was called Have you Ever had to E-mail a Complaint AFTER Your Trip?!! Hopefully you can read it.

Also, when you get a chance, read my trip report. Because even though I highlighted some of the things to you guys when I got back, you will see in the TR that there was more to it...the poopy water, the bad PPH room, the bad Blue Bayou and Carnation experience and all! That also prompted a reply fro Pinkstarblm, who had GOOD luck with complaining about her PPH room and got credit for it from Disney. I know that in the future, I will be complaining while I am on Disney property, because it seems that once you leave there, they don't care and it "is not their fault." Also, if there is a question about Annual Passes or what I will have to pay for tickets or hotels or anything that can be pre-determined and told over the phone, I will call Guest Services beforehand and ask, and then ask again. I wouldn't risk showing up from Arizona without having talked to at least two Cast Members on the phone beforhand to make sure I could do what I was trying to do, and giving them al the details. But most folks assume they won't have problems so they don't call and confirm, re-confirm, re-re-confirm, etc. Then they get there and have the experience like what the Arizona family had! If you get two or three different CMs to confirm something for you on the phone beforehand, there is no way they can tell you differently when you get there and be right about it.

Otherwise, I can't wait to hear all the details of your trip and see your photos! I want to know if you made it to the French Market, Dept. 56, if you enjoyed Toy Story Mania, if you were able to meet Prettyprincessbelle and her BF, etc. All of it. The whole 9 yards! I hope you had an 80% good time. My trip was not as great as some, but it was still good!
