AP passes are BAD!

Yep! I was struck by the AP bug too!

We bought our first APs for this past Nov/Dec trip and we were also going to use them this October before they expire.

Well, I got to thinking (after hearing those APs calling to me...) that we could squeeze in a 'cheap' extra AP trip this August. I convinced my DH by saying: we'll make girls only so daddy doesn't miss any work, we'll go in the Summer so the girls don't miss any school, no kennel for the dogs cause daddy will be home, no paying for the resort because we're DVC, and no need to buy passes cause we have APs!!

I convinced my DH. So now we are trying out the end of August as our 'extra AP' trip and then again in October!

But I think we're going back to passes for our next trip.

:(

I agree that AP's should come with a warning label. We originally got ours because we were taking a trip in April 2004 and then again in January 2005. Well, since we had some unscheduled illnesses (one of my DS's got a stomach virus for 5 days and then my DW had it for 2 days) on our last trip, our AP's have talked us into a quick trip in June and then another for MNSSHP in October.
I think I will keep them at a "safe" house for a while so I can't hear them calling me.:worship: ::MickeyMo

My AP has gotten the best of me too! Bought in August 2003 for a Birthday trip Labor Day Weekend....because we (hubby and I) were already planning a trip in December with the kids (and this would eventually save money, right?).

We went back in December.......I went back with my mother in February......we took a quick getaway weekend this month ($59 one-way SWA from Kansas City to Orlando!!!)........we are planning our 15 year anniversary in July. Surprise of surprises....this last trip my husband said, "maybe we should renew these passes for next year too...."

I about fell off my seat.

Our last trip on the APs activated in August 2003 will be this August. I will have used 29 days on my pass, and we live in CT! The worst was my extravagant birthday trip. We had free airfare and flew down the end of January--beginning of Feb for a 3 day weekend (DH teaches and used one personal day). The sad thing is that after the August trip, we don't have another one planned. I'm not attending that October conference I usually go to, and I know I'll really be feeling the "leaving WDW Blues" on August 8th!

I haven't even purchased my APs yet and they had me plan a trip for next January and next May! I'm hoping they "talk" to my DH frequently, letting him know what a good part of the family they are ;)

Even though we have AP passes it is a good thing we are a good enough distance away to make only 2 times in one year. ::yes::

Same thing is happening to us!! We haven't even gotten to our trip in June and we are planning one for Thanksgiving and Spring!! I hear "Disneyworld" all the time whispering to me.......

 Us too. We had our spring 2004 trip planned already when my parents decided in 12/03 to have some new gadget installed on their RV. The work could be done in Kissimmee so Dad called me early in December and said "how bout we all go down to Disney after Christmas? It will be our gift to you." Free trip??? Heck yeah! :p I started running #s in my head and asked if rather than just buying us park passes, would they mind giving us the $ and letting us add a little extra on and buy APs so we could save some for our spring trip? They had no problem with that so we tossed in about $400 for our family of 4 and had our APs.

We just got back at the begining of May. My oldest DS and I will be going down for a long weekend in October b/c a friend who lives in Chicago will be there. DH and I are hoping to do a long weekend for our anniversary and Mom and Dad are bringing us back again this year after Christmas. All in all we will have spent about 25 days in the parks since buying them. :)

Now our dilema is that the trip this December extends 2 days past their expiration date. So do we just do non-park stuff one day and Sea World the other or do we bite the bullet and renew the APs??

I'm with you guys. I bought one AP (and made it mine, lol) for AP rates in December. Lately, my AP has been shouting at me from the desk drawer -- "Get me back to WDW!"

Only problem is, I would really like to go solo -- isn't that bad? I love my family and we always have a great time. But, I'd like to just walk around at my own pace and not have to do anything other than what I want to do, not have to make sure I'm not losing anybody in the crowd and ride what I want when I want. Selfish, yes. But, I'd still like to do it. ;)

Having said that, I don't know if I could actually go by myself -- I'd feel too guilty about leaving everybody else.

So, I was thinking maybe we should all take a quick trip and buy APs for the rest of the family to use now and again in December. Bad, bad, bad!

I have that love/hate relationship with my AP too. I agree that there should be a warning on them too.

Yep, we were "burned" by our AP's too. :o Original plan was to purchase them for our 2.5 wk trip this past Dec/Jan and then use them once more for a Thanksgiving trip this year before they expired.

Well, before we even activated the PAP vouchers, our 2.5 wk Dec/Jan trip expanded into a 4 wk trip; then we hated to waste that week in March when the kids had off school for spring break, so a last minute trip there; of course we might as well go this summer since there's no school--18 nite trip this July; then of course our originally planned Thanksgiving trip is still on.

Ended up costing us ALOT more? OH yeah! (I even went back to work on weekends as an RN solely to pay for WDW trips!)

Made for an incredible year of priceless family fun? You betcha!

::yes::

I have an AP too PLUS I'm a DVC member!

AP's+DVC= BIG TROUBLE!!!

OH the PAIN! But- I guess someone has to suffer- so it may as well be me! ::yes::
