Have I got something wrong here?

I Have to pay for parking the first day I collet my AP pass $11.

However if I do Vallet park I can still get the AP discount on the first day as you only pay when you collect the car? (By which time i wil have my AP)

So AP vallet park will be $9???

Or have I got this wrong?

No...you have it right. You have to pay the day of picking up your pass. So...the regular parking would be $11.00 but I'm not sure about valet. I would imagine it's full price...at least the first time.

I went to guest services after paying for regular parking (first day of preferred pass activation) and requested a reimbursement and they gave it to me without hesitation. Save your parking receipt though.

You just got lucky. The policy is outlined here: http://www.universalorlando.com/annualpass/ap_pref.php.html where it clearly states: "Free parking is not valid on your first visit to the parks."

As far as the valet, I think that would work fine since you will have your AP when you pick up your car and pay. Another option is to arrive after 6:00 PM when parking is free (except on HHN.)

I got the same deal as SunnyOne. But that was several years ago, so thing may well have changed.

Maybe it's just a matter of who you get processing your AP and your inate charm. :rotfl:

Okay, I'll go with the charm theory :thumbsup2 , and it also may have helped that I was the only guest in the lobby at the time (slow time this past Sept.).

Yes.. it is the charm.. years ago they use to reimburse you for your parking on the first day.. not anymore and as Phantom quotes.. it states it on the pass info..... and she should know....;)

I was aware of the stricter policy but i also knew it was worth a shot, all they can say is sorry! Now if you need to plan ahead, like the original poster, plan according to the policy...always. I was sharing my experience not stating a guarantee, wouldn't want anyone to be disappointed.
