AP or Shareholders discount?

I know this has been asked before (or mentioned) but I'm really sorry, I've searched and can't find it!

If we use our Dream APs we get 10% off table service restaurants and a free apertif each (all 4 of us have these APs). So, if you include the drink x 4, it is a fair saving.

But, if we use Shareholder's discount we get 15% off table service but no free drink. Does the 15% discount include drinks we have with the meal, probably soft only but DH might have a beer in the evening (I think I read not?)?

Can we be really cheeky and use the AP to get the free drink but then pull out Shareholders card at the end for the 15% discount? :confused3 Has anyone done this and managed OK? At the end of the day I guess we have paid for both items - AP and shares... :rolleyes1

PS - I believe Shareholders doesn't offer discount on counter service (other than EoS) - is this correct?

Thanks :thumbsup2

easy stuff first, yes you're right about the counter service discount, there is none with shareholders card, except at EOS, where its 10%.

now on to the other discounts. Yes, you do get a free "aperatif" for each annual passholder in table service restaurants. This is just orange juice though, as far as I'm aware.

Your shareholders 15% discount on table service/buffet service restaurants is off the entire bill for the table, including drinks you take with your meal.

You could try to use the free aperatif with your APs at the start of your meal, and then try to pay with your shareholders card - but don't be surprised if the restaurant manager expects you to use only one or the other.

Also remember that children's drinks are usually included in the set meal/buffet price at all the restaurants. Its only adult drinks which are extra usually, and your 15% shareholders discount covers those.

Thanks Elaine - that is very helpful :thumbsup2.

I had forgotten that most children's meals include a drink! My DD2 won't drink anything fizzy - likes fresh orange juice or apple juice (mainly water though!), so the aperitif would have suited both of our girls perfectly. But as they get one included, it might be better to use shareholder's discount as it covers any drinks we adults have too!?

I will use my AP for counter service then :thumbsup2.

It's nice to have the choice :teeth:

Imagine a meal like Walts - it would probably cost approx E90 + drinks for you and DH. With your AP these drinks would be free and then you would get E9 off the bill so a total spend of E81. With shareholders card you would pay about E4 each for yours and DH's drinks making E98 but you would then get a discount of E14.70 leaving a total spend of E83.30

Assuming you and DH just buy one soft drink each costing about E4 each (and your children just have the drink which comes free with the meal) you will be better off using the shareholder deal when the cost of the meal (without the two drinks for you and DH) is more than E136. For cheaper meals the annIual pass deal works out better.

If DH wants a beer, that would not be covered by your annual pass aperitif so the shareholder discount would work out better for any meal costing over E58

HTH!

Thanks so much Jo :thumbsup2

I have no idea how much drinks cost these days in DLRP - is 4 euros about right for a soft drink?

on the table service menus Carrie Cat recently added they were E3.70 so I rounded up for ease of numbers.

The figures will change slightly depending on how many drinks you plan to buy. If your children are big drinkers though the annual pass has the added bonus that they can have the aperitif and the drink included in their meal. They can have fruit juice as their drink with a meal too as my DD2 won't drink fizzy. :goodvibes

I was just about to start a new thread asking about the AP aperitif but searched and found this one which addresses my very question!
I assumed the aperitif would be alcohol of some description :worship: is it really always orange juice?? Not only is this underwhelming in its lack of alcohol, I'm allergic to oranges

I was in Disneyland two Saturdays ago and tried to use both the Dreams free cocktail and 15% discount for the shareholder.
I ate in Annett's, but the waiter said that the free cocktail has been discontinued. I had not insisted, I did remember this post but could not find about the free cocktail in the leaflet they gave me with the passport so I wasn't sure I could get it.

Yes, it's a shame as you used to get a choice of a kir or juice - and of course I always chose the kir! Nowadays it's just orange juice. :(
